Frequently Asked Questions
I can think of four reasons to back this project.
First, stretch goals. These obviously become more impressive as the campaign goes on. Though just 24 hours after the project’s start already we unlocked two heroes that are not guaranteed to be in the commercial product, and an exclusive boss who for sure won't!
Second, you get the game before the commercial release. In the case of Cthulhu Wars, most American backers had it in their hands in January, and it did not hit store shelves till the end of March.
Third, it enables me and my team to continue creating independent games.
Fourth, I listen to my backers, as I think I've demonstrated on this very project. As a backer, your voice is heard and you can help mold the game's commercial version. Once the game is on store shelves, that ship has sailed.
These four reasons may not be enough to convince you to back us, but at least they are real considerations.Last updated:
The miniatures are being modified from the models in the actual Orcs Must Die! video game series, including the forthcoming Orcs Must Die! Unchained, so in a sense they are "sculpted" by the artists at Robot Entertainment. These models will be tooled into steel molds for plastic mass production, and will come fully assembled in your game box.
We are constantly tinkering with the poses and details of the figures, and they are not yet final. We always seek to make them more exciting and dynamic. We will show off final images for the figures in our many updates as the campaign progresses.Last updated:
If you have seen our Cthulhu Wars miniatures, you know the detail and quality we at Petersen Games put into our products. The Orcs Must Die! The Board Game sculpts are being molded at that same high level of detail, and being tooled using methods to preserve the exact look of the figure. They will be made of the same type of plastic as well.Last updated:
About a week after the campaign ends, we shall send an email to each backer with a link to what is called a Pledge Manager. This pledge manager allows you to put in your shipping address and calculates your shipping based on your country and pledge. You can then pay with any debit or credit card. The Pledge Manager is straightforward to use, and guides you through every step of the process.Last updated:
Shortly after the campaign ends, we will send an email to each backer with unique Steam codes, the beta key, and instructions to get the custom skins.Last updated:
No, these are mockups created for the Kickstarter. However, they are similar to the layout and design of the final components. We are making constant improvements. The art style is taken directly from the video game series, which we love, so the tiles and components will match the look and feel of Orcs Must Die!Last updated:
Robot has generously donated the digital rewards to the campaign, and excising them from a particular pledge would not decrease the price of printing and manufacturing the game.Last updated:
I live in Europe. Can I order the Acolyte pledge and then have you bring me my copy of Cthulhu Wars at the Essen game fest to avoid shipping?
While Cthulhu Wars will be available at Essen from other vendors, Petersen Games is not bringing any copies of the core game from America to Europe for the Essen gamefest.Last updated:
I live outside North America. Can I order the Acolyte pledge and then have you ship Cthulhu Wars WITH Orcs Must Die! to keep my shipping prices lower?
Sadly, this does not work - you see, the Cthulhu Wars games we are shipping come from our warehouse in the United States, while the Orcs Must Die! games are being delivered on container ships straight from the factory in China. So we cannot ship them "together" in any sensible fashion.
However, if you live in North America, shipping prices for Cthulhu Wars will be quite low.Last updated:
