@Jason Lau Only the stasis box. I think it would be kind of weird to send 21 empty boxes. I suppose if you order all the extra civs as add-ons and then order a stasis box as an add-on, maybe you would get both - maybe?
OK, just to clarify, since my poorly worded question wasn't really answered below, if we get the stasis box, we will not get individual boxes for the 21 civs? It's one or the other? Sorry for the pedantry, just want to be clear. Thanks!
about that neoprene Play Mat... any chance to make it 4' x 4' instead 3' x 4' ? pretty please? it would be so much better. You could even make a dedicated place for a deck of cards or important tech, so it will not slide on the table or get lost but be in a prominent spot !
@Martin, FWIW, I don't think the individual faction boxes will be easy to carry around, as they've got a large civ sheet. Combined with the miniatures, that's what'll cause most of the bulk. It's not what I'd call robust. The stasis box compacts things quite a bit more, since you can layer the faction boards on top of one another.
But if what your asking for, is if each faction is going to have a separate tray you can pluck out and take with you, the answer is no (though I wish it was yes!).
people help! i have been spammed like mad, and still haven't seen it really addressed. I have to decide between choosing single faction boxes or stasis box. i HAVE TO KNOW whether i can transport SINGLE factions inside the stasis box in the same robust way as the ones sold separately. I will be traveling with the game and taking a few factions with me on the journey.
The humans are actually represented on the civ storage box. She’s the one in the seat looking at her screens full of alien portraits. ;)
I have to agree that the art for the monsters box is gorgeous. That poor Startropolis looks like it's about to be swallowed whole. I wonder if there is anyone named Jonah aboard?
Yes, the Stasis box will hold the Human civ.
And as I store all my games vertically (as should be the case), I will be nagging Arthur constantly to make sure that's supported. :)
Just to clarify will the Stasis Box box also have a space for the Human Civ? I only ask because they are not shown on the box.
Found another typo in the manual. On pg 34 in the FAQ it asks if the Zevolt can steal a tech gained through joint experiment. The answer says yes but must place in a slot on the "Zepzeg" civ sheet. It should read Zevolt civ sheet
+1 to Elliot's comment at the beginning about hoping the Stasis Box can be stored vertical without everything collapsing together.
Also +3 or 4 about complimenting the Monster Box cover: very nice.
And I am counting the delightful Gods War triplets!
Ow wow that monster box art is gorgeous, my favourite composition/art-box combination out of all your releases
Correct. Every pledge gets the Space Monsters EXCEPT the space cadets.
@Christian Cunningham Correct.
Just to confirm: the Corvette pledge level also gets the Space Monsters? It's only the lowest pledge that doesn't?
Would be really nice to be able to reach in that box and grab a GameTrayz (or the like) that contains everything one player needs to play a civ, and then open that container and reuse the container as part of the game, one half on the storage side of the civ board, the other half on the supply/pool side of the civ board.
I know this is still a draft version, so I won't mention all the little typos I noticed. However, I did notice a couple things that I think could be easily overlooked in a proofreading, so thought I would mention them.
1) In the Battle description, it says you advance your Progress marker if you destroyed at least 1 Unit. I thought you just had to remove 1 Unit (i.e. damaging 1 Unit is sufficient). Also, in the sidebar, the picture of the last space in the Battle Progress track shows "per 8 Defense Removed," but the text of the sidebar says to add up the Defense values of all the Units you destroyed. Either way, one of them is wrong.
2) In the FAQ, there is a question about whether the Venge Grudge track is triggered by a Secret being given to someone else. The answer lists the things that trigger the Grudge track, and it includes Tech. I don't think this is correct anymore, at least according to the description of the ability on the Venge civ sheet shown in the spotlight video.
@Dycle Thanks! The rulebook still has to go through many rounds of proofing, but always good to catch those early. :)
@Sandy @ Tony
Have you considered offering the physical art book at a discount for the Pledge levels that already include the PDF version of the book.
Name and Setup Instructions are labeled backwards on pg 7 of the manual
So will those getting the stasis box also get the individual boxes for the civs, or just the stasis box instead? For example, will the Starship captain backers get all the individual boxes and the stasis box, or just the stasis box?
The Stasis box is designed to just hold the Expansions civs. You will still need the Core box for the 4 core civs (plus all the other components) and the monster box to hold the Monsters.
Just to clarify, will we be able to fit ALL game material in the stasis box? Or if we get Captain, will we have to bring around 3+ boxes?
Does the stasis box hold all hyperspace content or just the extra civs? Also, why do the humans cost more?
@Evan Miller - Starship Captain ($299) gets the monsters as a free gift. See the graphic from the campaign.
yes the space monster add-ons for for extra sets. For example, if you wanted 2 copies of each card (and each monster) for your secrets deck
Just wanted to mention that I love the artwork of the Space Monsters box. :)
@tony, good to know, thanks for the quick response
The $299 pledge does include the space monsters, they are probably offered as an add-on in case someone wants a second set.
@derek The playmat is only available as an addon, it's not included in any pledge.
@evan No, it is included. However if you want a second one, you can add it on.
Is the game mat included in any of the pledges, or will that have to be added on for any pledge level?
So the all-in $299 pledge doesn’t include the Space Monsters?
Dammit, you're making me spend more money.
Please please please please please please please make the Stasis Box & Main Box fit in an IKEA KALLAX. If you search any forum, Reddit, bgg, anywhere... You'll quickly learn that the majority of board gamers use the KALLAX shelves as their go-to. Thank you for reading this; I hope you consider it. The shelves are about 13 3/16 inch and the biggest box I have that fits is about 13 1/16 inch, given a quick tape measuring.
That goes for the main box too.
I realize it has to hold a lot, but please do try to make the stasis box as small as it can be. As always, with an eye towards maximum transportabilty. Also please make sure it can take verticalization (don't be like Alhambra big box, which dumps everything the second it's tilted) and if there are any card slots make sure they can take sleeved cards, as a majority of us will be sleaving and don't want to lose the ability to use the insert once we do.
