Calling all friends, compatriots, music listeners and believers!
This is an invitation to you to join me in a journey and a celebration, an invitation to join the story of the release of my next recording. My name is Peter Lambert La Grand and you may know me as a pastor, a mental health worker, a canadian cousin, a marriage officiant, a dreamer, a neighbour, a coffee drinker … and today I come to you as a songwriter. I have recorded a new album, and I now want to launch it into the world. I need to raise money to do this well. I am asking for you to help by pledging in one of the following levels:
$9 $19 $29 $99 $400 $999
$9 - get a digital release of the album—a significant help to me to get this record out—many hands make light work $19 - get a digital release and a physical copy mailed to you—for those of you who still like the experience of liner notes $29 - get 2 digital and physical copies and my last ep mailed to you—for those of you willing to not only support my music, but to share it $99 - digital download of the album, physical copies of my last three albums, and your name in the liner notes—for those of you who want to take a step to support this project in a deeper way $400 - House show! I'm looking for at least one of you to chose this reward and have me play music at your house—my favourite place to play music. You'll get a great night to offer your friends and 10 copies of the album to give out as well.$999 - All the copies of the music you want and your name listed as executive producer (or remain anonymous). This is for you out there who want to anchor this project, nudge me further in the direction of songwriting, and make my day!

It’s been a while
My last collection of songs, I Still Believe, I released in 2012—back when I only had one child. Since then life has gone through many twists and turns, and much has happened since, including the arrival of two more children. Music has remained a central part of my life, and I have continued playing and writing music with the groups Ordinary Time and Mixed Multitude Music and in a church setting. About two years ago I began to write songs that demanded their own space and their own voice, and it is with those songs that I write to you now.
I have a new record that I am extremely proud of and can't wait to share with you!
The beginning of this record took shape in the winter of 2017 when I decided to leave my position as a pastor in order to pursue a degree in counselling. This was a time of change, and as often happens in times of change I gained new perspective on parts of life. There were many amazing things that happened during this time, as well as many hard things and loss of identity. One of the outcomes of this process was a collection of songs that I began to form, and a plan that I formed along with them.
On past projects I have often written up until the day of deadline but for this project I wanted to take more time and write as deliberately as I could. To that end I began by learning some covers that I loved, and playing them often. Then, with those songs in my head and heart, I wrote my own songs. I set a goal of 15 songs, from which I would, with the help of others, chose 5 to commit to.
In the summer of 2018 I sent all the demo songs I had to a select group and asked them to choose their top five. From the results I received I took the top 5 finishers, recruited Jordan Klassen as a producer, and have been working on them ever since. Along the way we were lucky enough to have Ben Appenheimer play bass and Kuri to play drums.
The recording process has been rich, and it has been slow by necessity as I am also a father, a husband, a student, a mental health worker, and a marriage officiant. This project has offered me some moments of calm in this season, and my hope is that they are songs that will serve to help you to find moments of reflection, meaning, and peace amidst the relentlessness of life.
This is where I need you!
It has been a joy to work on this record, and I have done everything I can to make it something I am delighted to share. Now I need your help to successfully launch it into the world. I am working to raise funds to help cover
· Artwork and Production
· Basic PR (get the songs out to the wider world)
· Kickstarter Fees (5% free and payment processing fees between 3%-5%)
I've set the goal of this campaign at $ 5,555. This will allow me to launch this album well, to celebrate its existence, and to joyfully continue to the work in all my vocations. By backing this album you will be part of this journey with me. Please consider ordering either a digital or physical copy of the album—it means a lot.
Many of you know that I strongly believe that all of our voices count. By backing this album you are saying that not only do you believe this, but that you also believe that my voice counts.
Many of you reading this are also dear friends who live far away, friends I don’t get to see much. This album is my voice reaching out to you!
I can't wait for you to hear this record!! Let's do this!!
· Sending the tracks off to be mixed & mastered
· CD production
· Hiring the PR team and working with them to promote the record
Thank you for taking the time to read this far! Your support means a lot to me!
With love, PLG
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk is that I can't drum up enough support for this project, in which these songs will take longer to see the light of day and your ears.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
