In short, supporting independent creators & promoting diversity of content in comics. When Otto Press attended various comics & book festivals over the past few years, the previous issues (No.1 & No.2) were given away free to a large number of people who came. This is because we wanted to try to build an audience for the series and make sure there were no barriers to the work being read.
We are intending to carry on this method with the latest issue, so if you are one of those people, who was given an issue free before and you enjoyed it, please consider helping the next one reach its audience. Participation in this campaign would be an expression of your belief in independent, progressive, creator-owned work.
‘I feel print to be the best way to read comics. There is artwork available to read on my website, but I only see this as an introduction to the work, believing the most engaging experience will always come from a physical book. That’s why I want to print these comics pages and get them into your hands.’
There is large choice of different rewards on offer. We thought it best to create a separate page detailing all of these, which can be found here.
In addition to becoming a backer, another substantial way to help is tell people you know with an interest in comics about this campaign.
Your recommendation is crucial to the success of this project. We have also created a set of handy images, that you may enjoy using online to help us promote this project.
£1500 to print 3000 copies. It's all or nothing, so if we don't reach the target amount, you won't be charged a thing, but nobody will be happy, as you also won't receive your copy.
