"This is a great example of a quick game of deduction and bluffing that can be played anywhere, anytime, and with anyone. It’s the perfect mix of casual gaming and deep thought - Father Geek Seal of Approval!" - Father Geek
"This game is so replayable - with all the bluffing and strategies involved, you could switch up the way you're playing every time." - Unfiltered Gamer
“It combines bluffing and deduction in a tiny package and does so really well. It has just enough variation and choice to make it challenging, but not so much that it feels too thinky. A fun, quick, light little game that I’ll be taking with me. Ninja approved.” - GameGeek.Ninja
The Lady and the Tiger features three deep, family-friendly, and endlessly replayable games in one tiny package:
- Hoard, a solo game by Ken Maher.
- Doors, a 2-player bluffing game by Peter C. Hayward.
- Bones, a 2-6 player bluffing game by JR Honeycutt.
The rules and cards for all three are available for download below!
ALL STRETCH GOALS UNLOCKED
We have unlocked all of our stretch goals, which improve the game for all backers - details below!
In The Lady and the Tiger: Doors, players alternate between the role of Collector and Guesser. At the start of each round, you’ll be dealt one of the four identity cards: Red Lady, Red Tiger, Blue Lady, or Blue Tiger.
The Collector is trying to either collect cards to match their door card or outbluff their opponent. For example: If they’re the Blue Lady, they want to either collect four Blue cards or four Lady cards.
The Guesser is trying to read the Collector; they score points by either correctly guessing their role, or calling their bluff and letting the deck run out.
As soon as any player reaches 10 points, they win and the game is over!
In The Lady and the Tiger: Hoard, the player is trying to collect all the treasure (blue and red token) from four rooms. Each turn, they'll play a card, allowing them to either move treasure to a place it can be collected, or remove trash (black and white tokens).
Treasure can only be collected from a room matching its color (red treasure from a red room, blue treasure from a blue room) and no treasure can be collected from a room with trash in it. Trash can only be removed in pairs.
At the end of the 6th round, if there is still treasure remaining in any of the rooms, the player loses. If all the treasure is collected before then, count up the trash tokens and subtract the number from 10 - this is your final score! A quick, logical game of manipulating cards and tokens, it was designed to be appropriate for solo play at all ages.
In The Lady and the Tiger: Bones, players are trying to outbluff their opponents and be the first to score 2 points. This game puts a new spin on the bluffing game Skull: each round, a door card comes out. Everyone plays cards from their hand in front of them, and then bid for how many cards they can reveal matching the card in the middle.
Cards of the same type are worth two points, cards with one matching attribute are worth one, and cards with no matching attributes (or the lady/tiger card) cause the player to bust.
When players bust, they lose a card of their choice from their hand. If they make their bid, they take a token - the first player to 2 tokens wins!
By backing the campaign, you’ll get a limited promo card: Lady Bluebeard!
Before the game starts, remove one of the Blue Lady cards, and replace her with Lady Bluebeard. This card will not be available in retail copies of the game.
At the start of the game, the player who last opened a door is the first Collector.
Each round, both players take a door card at random, without showing their opponent. The other two are set aside. Shuffle the clue cards and place one aside. Draw the top three clue cards to form the display.
Each turn, the Collector takes a card from the display. They may then reveal their door card to show they’ve completed a set. A set is made of four cards that all match one attribute of the door card.
If the Collector completes a set, they score 6 points.
Then, the Guesser discards a card from the central display and (optionally) guesses their opponent’s role.
If the Guesser correctly guesses their opponent’s role or color, they score 1 point.
If the Guesser correctly guesses their opponent’s role and color, they score 5 points.
At the end of the turn where the last card is drawn (the Guesser’s 5th turn), the Guesser scores 3 points.
If the Guesser gets any part of their guess incorrect, the Collector scores 4 points.
Lastly, if the Collector has collected a set that matches the Guesser’s door card, the Guesser may reveal their role to score 2 points.

I love Kickstarter. I’ve backed many of my favorite games through the platform, and thanks to the community we built with our previous two projects, Jellybean Games is able to continue its mission: to make family-friendly games for everyone.
The Lady and the Tiger is our third game, and we’re so excited to share it with everyone. But without your support, we can’t make it! The art and graphic design has already been paid for; all we want now is your help to print the game and distribute it around the world.
The Lady and the Tiger was designed by Peter C. Hayward, Ken Maher, and JR Honeycutt, with art and graphic design by Tania Walker, and help from the whole Jellybean Games team.
If you like the game, please support us (every dollar helps!) and tell your friends - the game is great for gamers and non-gamers alike, and helping to get the word out means that we can keep on making cool games for many years to come!
Risks and challenges
This is my third project on Kickstarter - my first, Scuttle!, has now been delivered to backers, and Dracula’s Feast is currently at the printer. In the process of making those two games, I’ve learned a lot about the entire process, and I plan to apply all of these lessons to The Lady and the Tiger.
I’ve been told by many people who pledged to my earlier campaigns how much they enjoyed being kept in the loop, and I plan on maintaining that level of communication on this project. For this game, I’m offering a money-back guarantee! If you decide that The Lady and the Tiger isn’t for you within a month of receiving it, you can return it for a full refund, no questions asked.
The game has been playtested, the art and graphic design is complete, and so all that needs to happen once the campaign closes is for everything to be sent to the printer and then mailed out! Additionally, I’m friends with the Greater Than Games team, who have been responsible for many successful kickstarters - they've been invaluable in helping me prepare, and if I run into trouble they're available to offer advice and make fun of my Australian accent.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
