In 2007, after years of searching Carlyle Hanson hit upon a formula which allowed him to do what he knew he had been destined for: using his God-given talent for design and transforming it into a formula which would allow for his artistic expression to also affect change – stylistically, socially, and globally. Hence, PEOPLES PRIDE was born. PEOPLES PRIDE is “not just a clothing brand but a philosophy that is expressed through clothing.” It is an apparel house that pushes the boundaries of fashion, philanthropy and social consciousness in the name of the betterment of all humankind.
"Take pride in what you wear!" has been at the core of PEOPLES PRIDE philosophy.
From its conception PEOPLES PRIDE has infringed upon the confines of the norm, pushing the boundaries of creativity with our innovative and cutting edge styles.
As an artist, architect, tailor, and pattern maker, Carlyle's eyes are laser focused on the finest details of every aspect of the jeans, inside and out.
Innovation and perfection are crucial components of the overall appeal of the brand. Through experimentation in design, washing, and product development, PEOPLES PRIDE has cocooned itself in an aesthetic that is timeless, audacious and experimental, unorthodox and traditional, warping space and time, but always remaining relevant to the present.
To make a perfect pair of jeans you need 3 key ingredients:
Our MEN'S jeans are made exclusively from the highest quality denim, woven from either 100% organic cotton, or a mixture of organic cotton, bamboo, tensile, recycled plastic bottles, or other environmentally friendly yarns. We stay true to our principles of ensuring that our company is ecologically sustainable, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future.
Most MEN'S jeans I found always fit too loose, and the proportions are never right. There is always excess fabric somewhere. It was either too long, too loose, or both. My approach was to create a pair of MEN'S jeans that was most flattering to the person wearing it. It was not until I begun to develop PEOPLES PRIDE that I was able to wear a pair of jeans without having it tailored.
The perfect front and back rise, the right amount of ease at the crotch, a curved waistband for a perfect fitting waist, and no excess fabric at the hips or thighs, just the kind of jeans that you can wear with a blazer, or a t-shirt.
We offer 2 timeless FITS, supper-slim and slim.
Our supper-slim is fitted from the thigh to the knee, and tapers in at the ankle, slimming but not tight.
Our slim fit is fitted throughout the thigh to the knee and falls straight to the ankle.
"It takes time and patience to create a well broken in pair of Raw Denim. Here is a pair of Peoples Pride 2nd Generation Organic Raw Selvage made from Cone White Oak Sustainable Collection. Developed and worn by Carlyle for the past 5 years, they have worn to the perfect Shade Of Blue. With all the signs of a working man and his love for denim. He has done almost everything in these including sleeping in them."
Where most selvage jeans are a combination of selvage and overlock, I was driven to create a selvage jean with no overlock. After many tries I was able to create a jean that is completely clean FINISHED. Along with all the refined finishing details that are a part of all PEOPLES PRIDE jeans, our selvage jean is exceptional for that reason.
What makes our fabric truly unique is the innovative, patented corespun elastic fiber that provides 360 degrees of comfort so you can twist, bend, and flex. A completely new fabric construction that offers just the right amount of "give" in every direction consistently providing exceptional comfort and fit, even after repeated wear and wash.
It took us 2 years and countless fittings to develop the perfect FIT.
Most companies cut corners in the finishing of their products. We believe the inside of the jean must look as beautiful as the outside. Take a look at the photos and when you purchase a pair of PEOPLES PRIDE jeans, compare them with your favorite pair, and if you don't feel that we have the perfect pair of finished jeans, please tell us.
WHAT SIZES DO WE OFFER?
Our women's jeans sizes range from 24 to 32. Inseam length are 28, 31, 34 and 37 for all sizes.
Our men's jeans sizes range from 27 to 38. Raw denim has a tendency to shrink, so you may want to order 1 size up from your regular size. Inseam ranges from 30 to 34 for all sizes.
You may order your size or sizes at the end of our Kickstarter project.
TRIMS AND HARDWARE:
One of many prominent differences of this brand is in its founder and his philosophy. Carlyle Hanson believes that the brand must serve the three aspects of a person: the physical, the mental and the spiritual.
- The physical is reflected in the fabrics and trims we use, the feel and the fit, the form and its function. The purpose of the jeans and how it speaks to you the wearer and the onlooker. The fine details that speak volumes without screaming...It is the external expression of an internal feeling. It is the refined finishing of the interior of the garment that speaks to the internal character of the wearer. The jean is a refection of me and you: how it makes people feel when they take it into their lives, how it fits them and makes them feel, how it completes them and they complete it.
- The mental is stimulated by the product and the craftsmanship, the attention to detail and the small yet significant signatures that define our jeans. It is the "5 definitions of pride", the quotes on our hang tag, the condom pocket and The Red Dot Fund ™ , and the most significant of all is the letter of gratitude and appreciation which Carlyle himself wrote in an effort to have a more personal connection than just that of a business transaction. All of these words were chosen in an effort to uplift, enlighten, and inspire everyone who reads them.
- The spiritual is moved by the entire process that has gone into the company and the jeans we design and make for you. The idea that something so mundane can be made to have such meaning. PEOPLES PRIDE is meant to stir the spirit to overtake the mundane and inject it with a deeper meaning that benefits all on a life-changing level.
It is unfair of us to request that you “TAKE PRIDE IN WHAT YOU WEAR”™ if we don’t take pride in what we do. Therefore we do our best to create the best, so that when you wear our product you can be encouraged to be your best.
There was a time when “Made In USA” was the pride of the land, the seal of approval, the standard bearer. Today, however, there are very few products made in America. We have spent the past 5 years developing our jeans and forging relationships with manufacturers across the US, and have seen just how important it is to keep manufacturing here.
One of PEOPLES PRIDE guiding principles is to forge relationships with businesses seeking to establish and grow. What better place to apply this principle than here, at home. For every 100 pairs of jeans we sell in a month we are adding 2 jobs to the American economy. Supporting US manufacturing is in a vital interest of America’s economic future – OUR FUTURE!
The high quality standard of our jeans can only be executed by the most skillful of craftsman. It is for this reason that we have chosen to develop and manufacture PEOPLES PRIDE jeans in Los Angeles, California, the place where premium denim started.
“I have always held the belief that charity for charity’s sake is useless. I believe in serving people in a systemic way; putting strategies and structures in place for more than short term appeasement, but for the long term enablement of growth and progress. This is exactly what we endeavor to do at PEOPLES PRIDE, starting out with our HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention initiatives.” –Carlyle Hanson-
We at PEOPLES PRIDE are strong advocates of philanthropy. Our patented condom pocket is just one way in which we aim to educate and empower people around the world about the global HIV/AIDS crisis.
This is why we have established The Red Dot Fund™ , our initiative to make a systemic change for those directly and indirectly affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. For every jean sold, 10% goes to support this fund.
ONE WORLD. ONE PEOPLE. ONE RACE. ONE PRIDE
Thank you kindly,
Carlyle A. Hanson

Nothing worth testing will be left untested. It has been 5 years, and we have faced almost every challenge and obstacle there is: from delays, cancellations, fabrics being changed and/or cancelled by the mills, late shipments, late payments, factory overloads, and constant rescheduling.
Pricing the product was a challenge from the beginning, the price point justifies the quality in the product but being the new brand it posed the challenge among the competitors.
How we are qualified to overcome the risks?
We seeks to build relationships with the factories we work. Over the years, we have tried and tested these relationships, stayed consistent, and were able to work out the issues. As a result, the cutting house knows our standards; the sewing house knows the products, the standards, and where every stitch goes; trim suppliers are familiar with the product and are willing to help overcome the production difficulties.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
