In 2012, Quick Off The Mark Productions released the short puppet film 'The Greyness of Autumn'. Written by Andy S. McEwan and Chris Quick, the story centred around Danny McGuire, an ostrich living in Glasgow. Danny's life is suddenly turned upside down when he loses his job and his girlfriend in the same day. As Danny struggles to reinvent himself in a society that treat him as a second class citizen, he questions whether there is much point living in a world that will never see past the feathers.
'The Greyness of Autumn' enjoyed a successful run at various festivals both in the United Kingdom and abroad including Ireland, Australia and the United States of America. In Australia it was awarded the best comedy short at the 2015 edition of the People of Passion Film Festival.
Although the film's storyline came to a natural conclusion, we were overwhelmed by the number of people who asked if a sequel was being penned. After initially dismissing the idea, writers Andy S. McEwan and Chris Quick agreed in December 2014 to explore the possibilty of a follow up film. Earlier this year a script was written and now both companies are keen to put the wheels in motion to bring the sequel to the big screen.
Cast & Crew
We are delighted that Duncan Airlie James (former 6 time World Thai / Kick Boxing champion & K-1 fighter) will be returning to voice Danny McGuire. Chris Quick will also return as the voice of Nelson and occupy the directors chair for the sequel. Also returning for the sequel will be Amy E. Watson and Neil Francis. Sadie Thompson, Craig Walker and Alan Cuthbert have been confirmed as playing new characters in the film.
We want to bring back the characters in a bigger and funnier sequel and we need your help to do it. The previous film was limited by a relatively small budget but it went on to become a popular segment at festivals across the globe.
Initial feedback from the proposed script has been extremely positive and there are signs that we have surpassed the previous film. The arrival of the new script has reassured us that the proposed sequel will not spoil 'The Greyness of Autumn'.
We are looking to raise £1,500. A budget of this size will allow us to bring Danny and Nelson back in an extended short film so that we can delve deeper in to the bizzare world they live in where human and puppets live side by side.
How can we thank you
In return for your donations we have a variety of perks. Whatever the amount, any donation we receive will bring us one step closer to bringing the flim to the big screen.
