Update #11: Strip Search UNLOCKED! Call for entries begins NOW.

We’ve just hit the $450k/Strip Search stretchgoal! We move fast, so it’s time to get the process rolling. May I present to you, the initial call for entries.

As mentioned in previous updates, the winner will get office space (for free!) at Penny Arcade HQ in Seattle, WA AND access to all of our facilities and resources (Mike, Jerry, Biz Guys, Merch Guys, etc) for one year on top of a $15,000 cash prize.

The deadline to submit is midnight, 8/24/2012 (TWO WEEKS FROM NOW). What you’re applying for is to be on our new reality show, Strip Search, later this year. The process to get to our final participants will be incredibly thorough, so please know this is only the first of many steps.

Some quick notes on the show:

  • There will be no cost to you, other than your time.
  • You will be asked to sign a video release.
  • You will be asked to sign an NDA.
  • You will NOT be asked to sign anything regarding the rights to your existing or future works.
  • You need to be 18 or older and legally be able to enter the United States.
  • You will need to take about two weeks of your life later this year for this and this alone.

If there are any other questions, please ask them below, and I'll get them answered. Thanks, and good luck!

Hey, Benjamin. We sent it late last year. Let me reach out to you via email.

    2. Creator Benjamin on March 30, 2013

Should I have received a certificate yet? Hope it's on it's way.

    3. Creator Brandi Murphy on September 6, 2012

You guys are being silly. A good picture does not a comic make. I'm proud to report that at least one writer applied and cleared the first round (@krissywrites!). Do you really think Jerry would allow good writers to be denied?

    4. Creator Stephen Ranger on August 16, 2012

I agree; I'd think about applying but I can't draw for shit :/

    5. Creator Shanktimus on August 15, 2012

xkcd is an example of a talented webcomic driven by the writing... Those who think they CAN'T... WON'T.

    6. Creator The Rose West on August 14, 2012

It's too bad Strip Search is going to be geared towards individuals since it excludes us writerly types. Especially since this would exclude an aspiring Tycho from applying. Sadness indeed...although I'm sure it'll be fun to watch!

    7. Creator daft_inquisitor on August 13, 2012

      I... I hope that's a joke.

    8. Creator Track Zero on August 12, 2012

I can't draw but I use words good and I almost alway splel & grammer rightly. Can I play?

    9. Creator Penny Arcade on August 10, 2012

adaminator - assuming you can get yourself into the U.S., yes.

    10. Creator Sage on August 10, 2012

My last name is difficult to pronounce, so you might want to PM me before-hand, as it doesn't have 'English' pronunciation.

    11. Creator Chris A. Gruszka on August 10, 2012

Just submitted my app as well. Congrats on the successful campaign, gents. Cheers!

    12. Creator adaminator1 on August 10, 2012

Is this available to non-us residents?

    13. Creator Nick Foy on August 10, 2012

So pumped about this one. I've already submitted my application! Best of luck to everyone!

    14. Creator Sebastien Ringuette on August 10, 2012

Well I'm incredibly glad we got to at least this point, I'm all over this thing. Fingers crossed, but I bet there are going to be a couple thousand applications. Good luck culling them, PA people!

    15. Creator Eric Smith on August 10, 2012

Oh man I can't wait to watch this.

    16. Creator Matt Youngmark on August 10, 2012

      I'm ALL IN.

    17. Creator Penny Arcade on August 10, 2012

      Yes, you may apply.

    18. Creator Philip Mars on August 10, 2012

I´m Brazilian, but I can manage to go to the USA for the show. Can I apply?

    19. Creator Mike Stanton on August 10, 2012

      Thanks! PROMPT.

    20. Creator Penny Arcade on August 10, 2012

Having an existing webcomic is not a requirement.

    21. Creator Mike Stanton on August 10, 2012

I haven't seen anything to suggest that entrants must actually have a current webcomic up. Are you (potentially) accepting people who are just looking to get started, etc?

    22. Creator Penny Arcade on August 10, 2012

The competition is geared toward individual creators, but there's nothing stopping you from applying individually.

    23. Creator Alex Ibarra on August 10, 2012

Can two people enter Stripsearch together?

    24. Creator daft_inquisitor on August 10, 2012

That seems a little silly with only five days to go. Besides, they're going to hit the deadline rush soon, so we should clear a bit more cash before this is all over, maybe even enough to hit the next tier. (From what I've seen on KS, popular projects usually hit around a 10% boost in the last three days.)

    25. Creator Tyler Tinsley on August 10, 2012

oh i'm SUPER excited about strip search.

    26. Creator Tyler Tinsley on August 10, 2012

I really think you guys need images that show what you get at each pledge level. think about how nice your booth menu is at pax and put those skills to work. if all of your readers just put in a few bucks you would have all your goals met.
