Fulfillment has begun, and will continue over the next 2 weeks. Here's a quick rundown of how it's going to work and when you should expect your shipment to leave our warehouse...

Fulfillment + Shipping Timeline

Here's the gist of it:

  • Surveys were locked down on Nov. 27th (Monday...we waited a few days to give folks some extra time over the holiday weekend). If you have completed your BackerKit survey, it is now locked and loaded into our system.
  • If you're one of the 574 people who have not completed their BackerKit survey, you can click this link to do so.
  • In the past 48 hours, 5314 Kickstarter rewards shipments have been processed! That means 44% of all shipments have been released to our warehouses where they are being picked, packed, and shipped to you.
  • Over the next 2 weeks the remaining 66% of shipments will be processed.

Here's the longer story:

Manufacturing began on our new products prior to the end of our Kickstarter campaign, and has been happening continuously since. For the past 2-3 weeks, our suppliers have been sending out product shipments to our warehouses nearly every single day.

Each shipment contains a different products and goes out to a single warehouse. One box might contain silver Capture v3 headed to Australia. Another box might have black Slide Lite headed to Canada. Over the past 1.5 weeks, our warehouses have been receiving and sorting these many shipments.

On Monday our Kickstarter funds cleared (it typically takes 14 business days) which allowed us to begin releasing shipments. We locked down completed surveys and fed that data into our fulfillment system. The system works like this: it looks at your shipping address, finds the warehouse nearest you, and if that warehouse contains all the items in your order, it releases your shipment.

Once a shipment is released, the warehouse has the green light to ship it, and you receive a shipping notification email (subject line: Your Peak Design Order Has Shipped!). Sometimes it takes 1-2 business days for your shipment to actually be picked up by the carrier, since the warehouse needs time to pick/pack the shipment and get it to the proper loading dock.

As each warehouse re-ups on stock (via continued shipments from our suppliers) our system will release and ship the remaining 66% of orders. Based on our supplier shipment schedule, we expect this to happen between now and Dec. 15.

In what order are we processing rewards shipments?

The short answer is there is no absolute prioritized list of rewards shipments. It will not be based on the order in which you pledged, or the total amount of your pledge, as we often get asked. Instead, shipping order is dynamically updated based on a number of factors:

  • your shipping address
  • items in your order
  • availability of those items at the warehouse nearest you

That last bullet depends on a variety of factors including our supplier shipping schedule and the time it takes for each warehouse to receive shipments, which differs from week to week because of seasonal surges.

In any case, like we said during our campaign, all remaining shipments are set to ship in December. Moreover, all signs show that these shipments will go out in the first half of the month.

When will my rewards be delivered?

For a vast majority of you, December. The exact answer depends on your location, the date your order ships, the size of your shipment, and the specific shipping carrier that handles your order. Service times are especially hard to predict this time of year. The fact is that once something leaves our warehouse, we cannot guarantee a delivery date.

Most US shipments will be sent via USPS 1st Class, USPS Priority, or FedEx Ground from Los Angeles, which means you'll get a tracking link in your notification email that will populate with info 1-2 days after you receive your email.

International shipments will be sent via a wide variety of local carriers from warehouses near Toronto, Hong Kong, London, and Sydney. Most international shipments will not come with tracking info due to limitations with our system. But your notification email will contain a delivery date estimate. We've found those estimates to be accurate, but sometimes a bit short during the holidays since it's based on average times throughout the year. And if you live in Africa, the Middle East, or South America, you should take those estimates with a grain of salt.

We promise that no matter where you live or what you ordered, we'll make sure your reward gets to you as quickly as possible!

Can I pay extra for expedited shipping?

Unfortunately we can't do that. Our system is designed to handle a large number of orders as efficiently as possible. The tradeoff is that we can't handle 1-off requests without slowing down the entire operation.

FedEx claims they left my shipment at my front door on Wednesday December 13. They did not. I was home. Now what? Contract my credit card company?

Hi - received half my items and can see of the remaining only one of them is showing as short in my region. Is there anywhere we can see what has been back ordered and will be delivered when stock becomes available? Thanks, Andrew

Still waiting for my shipping confirmation. I guess I'm one of the 66% waiting for supplies on my additional items. Hopefully before Christmas!

I received my new Capture v3 clips, dual plates and Pro Pads today. Wow - the new design is amazing and exudes quality and refinement. It's a huge improvement over the previous Capture and PROplate. As a Manfrotto tripod user, the new design ticks all the boxes and smashes it out of the stadium.

Thank you Peak Design - an extremely happy customer!

      Hello,
I got my tracking number, which showed that the item originated from the UK, which makes sense as I am in Italy. However, I've just seen that the tracking shows that it has arrived in Turkey (?!?!). What can I do? Perhaps I've been given the wrong tracking number?

@Wong Koon Wing, as per the Update above "International shipments will be sent via a wide variety of local carriers from warehouses near Toronto, Hong Kong, London, and Sydney. " Unfortunately this is the same situation that is for purchases via our website.

As we utilise a third party fulfilment centre, they choose the delivery method. I've seen SF-Express, Kerry Express and Hong Kong Post all being used, I've seen similar orders processed by different courier companies around the same time.

I'm not trying to be evasive when I say it is not possible for us to know before the items are sent, as this is the reality. Sorry that I cannot be more directive.

May I know how do you deliver to backer in Hong Kong? SF-Express or Hong Kong Post Office? or any other? Thanks.

Well @Adam, with product rolling out the door already, I guess I won't need to cross my fingers and hope for delays! ;-) With any luck I'll see things THIS side of January! Well done team!

@Swamy, as per the FAQ, "When we ship your reward, we’ll include those extra items in the same shipment." https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/peak-design/greatest-hits-revamped-capture-slide-and-slide-lit/faqs#project_faq_229398

@Wong Koon Wing, you will receive tracking when your rewards are dispatched from the warehouse.

Well. This is the best Kickstarter campaign ever.

@Neal Ooh, that is awkward. That's what happens when we let the marketing guy do math. Note that figuratively, we always give 110%. Maybe that's what he meant? To clarify, 56% of shipments remain.

    20. Peak Design 8-time creator on

      @Rahul From our survey FAQ:

      1. The fastest way to get to your survey is to go to the following site and enter your Kickstarter email address: https://capturev3.backerkit.com/

      2. Maybe you're checking the wrong email account. Your survey was sent to the email address that is associated with your Kickstarter profile. Not sure what email that is? Login to Kickstarter, click on the icon in the upper right of the screen, and go to Settings > Account.

      3. Search your inbox and SPAM folder for "Capture" or "Response Needed."

      4. If all else fails, go to the survey recovery page (see link in #1), click the FAQ link, and then click the Contact tab. The kind folks at BackerKit are here to help!

    21. Neal Jones on

      Ummm... so this is kinda awkward but 44% + 66% = 110%...‍♂️
Or maybe there’s an extra 10% of repeat backers who get free X-mas swag...
