About this project
This film is a passion project from filmmakers and comedy fans Shannan Hunt and Adam Smith, Who came up with the idea to make a short film about one of the things they look forward to all year-The Bridgetown Comedy Festival.
After a few months of pre-production and securing interviews, we brought Bridgetown Comedy Festival co-founder Kimberly Brady on board as a co-producer.
We decided after getting so much great footage that this would have to become a feature length as a short just wouldn't do what we were trying to convey justice.
We have poured our hearts and souls into this production as well as our bank accounts. Having tapped our own meager savings, we now need to stretch out our arms to receive your financial generosity! Our goal is relatively modest, and every nickel counts. Tell your friends, tell your relatives!
We have filmed over 30 interviews. Countless live performances, tons of B-roll, but we have more to do. We need to finish the interviews with the comics FROM Portland and get their story, as well as more from the behind the scenes people that make Bridgetown happen.
We have decided to significantly lower the amount we are asking for this time and just ask for the bare minimum so we can finish shooting. SO, instead of paying for our crew to go to California and interview more comics, we are just going to finish the film by interviewing all of the local comics. Though, We have completely ran out of funds to do even that, so this is where our Kickstarter comes in. We need to purchase sound gear, and lights to make sure everyone looks and sounds their best. Your investment will provide funding for microphones, recorders, and lights. As well as a little more space to store this footage as we have ran out of that too! Anything extra will be set aside for post production costs.
We are planning on purchasing our own (instead of renting) these things to keep production costs low. We also have missed out on opportunities for last minute interviews due to being unable to secure these things. Good sound is imperative to any production and ours is no exception!
We have some amazing incentives and more coming in each day. Some of the comedians in our film have been generous enough to donate signed item so if there isn't something you see right now make sure to check back. We will be getting more as we keep acquiring interviews.
Why should you care about this film?
The Bridgetown Comedy Festival means so much to so many different people. Either performers from around the globe who are super excited to get chosen to perform or local Portland comics who will be performing right alongside someone who inspired them. The fans who make it out to the shows rain or shine (mostly rain) and live for the four days of laughter that they get once a year, and the volunteers who donate their time to help run this amazing event. We just want everyone in the world to be able to see what that is all about, how it runs, what the experience is like when there and all the people it takes to put on such an amazing event.
The following individuals are already deeply involved in the adventure, including Patton Oswalt, who had a significant hand in making the first ever Bridgetown Comedy Festival successful!
And many, many more!

Risks and challenges
Possible risks and challenges may arise in the form of the post production work. Filming a documentary with so many different people in it poses risk of continuity problems in sound, lighting, etc. We are all prepared to put extra work into making sure this film is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the funny bone! (OK, we DOCUMENT comedians, we never said we WERE comedians)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
