Our production of The Merry Wives of Windsor will start rehearsals in mid-October, and will perform in December and January in at least 5 venues across the state of Michigan. So far we are planning dates in Grand Rapids, Spring Lake, and Midland, and are working on booking further venues. Our touring troupe of actors is extremely self-sufficient. All production duties, such as set and costume construction, publicity, and tour planning, are done by members of the cast. The actors load our sets in and out of each venue. Our performance style is very minimal, focusing on the acting, which makes our productions extremely portable. The Merry Wives of Windsor will have a cast of 10 actors, and we and all of our set pieces, etc., can travel in three cars.
With this project we are raising funds that will go towards a number of production expenses, including gas and food allowances for our actors as they travel; promotional materials such as posters and postcards; and facilities usage for the venues where we perform. In addition, Pigeon Creek is Michigan's only year-round, touring professional Shakespeare company. We pride ourselves on paying our actors per-production stipends in a region where there are very few paid opportunities for actors. Your contributions will also go towards our actors' contracts for this production. All project backers will receive acknowledgment on our lobby display and on our website!
