Nexus: Scrapyard is the first chapter in a five chapter series of games detailing the rise and fall of a galactic tyrant. Utilizing more than just a narrative connection, these games will be linked mechanically allowing the players to experience a deeper connection to the narrative.
Like Legacy games, this Chronicle will be different everytime you play. Unlike most Legacy games, where each play changes mechanics in the next play of the same game; in this Chronicle each play changes mechanics of the next chapter and potentially beyond.
For example: In Nexus: Scrapyard, the winner could enjoy a slight benefit in the second chapter of the Nexus series. Furthermore; events that occur in the first chapter could drastically change mechanics in the second chapter. Going even further, events that transpire in the second chapter could affect setup and win conditions in the third chapter. This Chronicle concept is something rarely done in board gaming and is something I am very excited to be working on.
In Nexus: Scrapyard, you and 4 friends take turns as entrepreneurs looking for affordable CivShips to purchase from Syd's Scrapyard. Each turn you will take actions to customize the available CivShips and hire a crew to ensure you can buy the best CivShips in the scrapyard, or sabotage your friends!
what to do during your turn
During your turn, you will have1 hours (60 min) of game time in the office to discuss actions with Syd, the owner of the Scrapyard. During your turn, you can choose any combinations of the below actions as long as you don’t exceed the allotted time with Syd. He is a very busy man. (Game turns will not take an actual hour!)
INCOME: Draw cards.
BRIBE: Add one Component card from your hand to any CivShip in the Scrapyard. Components can benefit yourself or sabotage your opponents.
CivShips will score points at the end of the game equal to the renown value of Component and Crew cards associated with them.
HIRE: Add Crew cards to any CivShip owned by a player. Crew cards have powerful effects that can hinder your opponents or help you.
PURCHASE: Take a CivShip and all components from the Scrapyard, and move them to your fleet. Build the best fleet to win the game!
After your turn in the office, the next player on the left will enter Syd's office. This will continue until the last CivShip is purchased. Each player will then receive one final turn in Syd's office. After the final players turn, Players will add the renown points of all Crew and Component cards in all CivShips ships they own, including any bonuses. The player with the most renown points wins!
"Nexus: Scrapyard has the potential for players to develop unique strategies while still maintaining an easy-to-teach and easy-to-learn feel. Turns go quickly once all players are familiar with the cards and rules, and game completion doesn't take too much time." - Everything Board Games
"I think that people who like simple games with a hidden information aspect, some management choices and 'take that' elements might like the game. It doesn`t take a lot of time nor space and analysis paralysis is almost impossible, so you will have a fast flow." - Board Game Stories

I have been developing the Nexus games for several years in tandem with other games. Games such as Smoking Aces and Bushido, the card game. The narrative Chronicle element of the Nexus games brings sheer excitement to my passion for game design and I couldn't be more proud to be working on these games. However, all that you see is all I could afford, I need the generosity of the backers to help raise funds to bring industry professionalism to this Nexus game as well as make it the best it could be.
Kickstarter Funds will be used to,,,

- Commissioning graphic design improvements

Risks and challenges
No amount of research or education is a substitute for experience here. This is the fourth of many Pawnjoker Games productions so I have a small degree experience with completion and setbacks involved with the typical production cycle and I proudly admit that my other Kickstarted games Smoking Aces and Bushido, the card game were delivered on time. The largest risk I face is the uncertainty of unpredictable circumstance within the manufacturing, fulfillment and shipping process. I am working with a well known and professional manufacturing company and I understand the importance of a timely production. I will strive to keep each and every backer informed of any delay or updates as I work with industry professionals to complete the manufacturing and fulfillment/shipping in a professional and timely manner.
