About this project
Ember: Shroud of the Shadow Demon is a non-collectible strategy card game with a dash of luck and a pinch of chaos. Ember perfectly caters to the little voice in all of us that holds a grudge. With plenty of opportunities for revenge, you won’t have to listen to that voice for very long before it’s satisfied. Don’t be shy and show no mercy, as you will receive none in return!
Ember: Shroud of the Shadow Demon is for 2-4 players. Average game time: 25-45 minute. Ages: 12 and up
The game-play focuses on player interaction, meaning you will constantly be figuring out the best way to manipulate your opponents' side of the field to stop their plans. What makes the game unique is the addition of the four modes of gameplay. At any point in time, a player is playing in a certain "mode," each of which gives you a different tactical advantage during gameplay. Each card in the game has an effect that occurs when you play it, and a mode symbol. Players will have to choose the best time and way to use each card. You may need to use a card to change your mode of gameplay, but if you do, you will be sacrificing the effect of the card.
There are four unique decks in the game, each with 52 cards. Each player plays using a single deck. There are cards that are common among all four decks, but each deck has a handful of unique cards that the other decks do not have, giving each deck a slightly different feel. Some cards are more defensive, and help protect your side of the playing field. Other cards are aggressive, and focus on attacking your opponent. Some cards completely change the playing field, and force players to adapt their strategies.You only get to play one card's effect each turn, so make it count!
The objective of the game is simple, collect more ember stones than your opponents. At the end of the game, the player that has collected the most ember stones is the winner.
With all of the interaction between players, Ember: Shroud of the Shadow Demon is perfect for groups of friends that like to mess with each other. Although the objective is to collect ember stones, you can't succeed without a little blood shed. You will have to thwart your opponents' plans by destroying or capturing their cards. You may even be able to give them the dreaded wraith card, worth negative 20 ember stones! But watch out, because once you make another player angry, their vengeance will be swift and unmerciful. Make sure you don't throw the first punch until you're ready for the inevitable retaliation.
Throughout the game, the cards of each deck will be mixed together. Each deck is color coded, so separating the decks after game play is simple.
Each of the four unique decks included in Ember: Shroud of the Shadow Demon represents a hero out on a quest to collect ember stones. Each player chooses a hero, and uses that hero's deck during the game.

If we reach this goal we can include a larger version, which is beneficial to those of us who cannot find our glasses. In the magical world of Ambyria, Ingduhl the evil shadow demon has been terrorizing the land under his shroud of darkness. HIs evil forces are too powerful, and his wraiths continue to roam free, consuming the souls of their helpless victims. The only hope lies within the power of the mysterious ember stones. Four heroes each set out on a quest to gather enough ember stones and harness their power to defeat the shadow demon. Choose your hero and start your quest, but make no mistake, you are in this alone. The shroud of darkness makes it impossible to tell friend from foe, and you must collect the ember stones yourself if there is any chance of saving Ambyria!
Princess of the elves of Gelduland, Seraphene's fierce skill with her bow is unmatched as is her kind heart. Standing in golden light she has saved her people once from a dark evil. All of Ambyria awaits a savior from Ingduhl. Seraphene, radiant and cunning, will engage the voracious Shadow Demon.
Raised as a humble iron miner, Rowl grew into a soldier. After his brothers were slaughtered in battle he ended his servitude as a soldier and became a wanderer. He later brought piece to the four mountain kingdoms. He will stand formidably before Ingduhl, and demonstrate to the Shadow Demon the skill of a true swordsman.
Yvera, a child of the sea, has travelled far learning of the land dwellers of all races. She has seen evil in Ambyria but she also sees about her the simple joys of life and the power of laughter on a dark day. When she stands before the Shadow Demon; he will face the wrath and beauty of the vast and endless sea.
As mysterious as the Ember Stones themselves, Kaldoren is an ancient wizard. In his life he has risen through trials, learning many magics and many curses. Residing in the volcano of Ismahele, Kaldoren will seek contest against Ingduhl and try his hand at smiting the evil scourge of Ambyria.
Our game has come a long way since our first prototype test cards printed on business cards. As much as we love the game mechanics and the game itself, we owe a lot of gratitude to our artist Joe Dedalto. His creative images have helped bring the characters of Ambryia to life, and make Ember as much fun to look at as it is to play.
Paw-Warrior Games, named for its two co-founders, was established in 2014. At Paw-Warrior Games, we are dedicated to publishing games that are engaging and stimulating but most of all we want to create fun. With our games we attempt to evoke the players' imagination. Our goal is to take risks and invent new concepts in gaming that are exciting.
Ember has come a long way since its initial inception in early 2014. While creating Ember, Paw-Warrior Games has strived to produce a game that is easily accessible for hardcore and casuals gamers alike. Ember is the first game to come from the creative minds of Paw-Warrior Games. This has been a learning process for us, and there are some things we still have to learn. However, we already have a great support system that has been working with us, including the people at AdMagic. We will be printing through AdMagic.
