Frequently Asked Questions
We will talk about all of the candy delivery, kickstarter support, etc. in this thread:
Please post all of your questions there! But take a look first - it might even have been answered already!Last updated:
Some people have increased their pledge, but somehow kickstarter left their “reward level” at the previous, smaller reward. About half the people raising their pledge select the higher reward level and half don’t.
If you want to see a video tutorial, Shawn made one and embedded it here:
Now in text form for those who don't like videos. The solution is to go to kickstarter and hit “manage pledge.” Then hit “Change your pledge.”
Note, if you backed as a “guest” without a kickstarter account, it looks like it makes you create an account in order to change your pledge. And then you need to find your way back to the “manage pledge” stuff and hit “Change your pledge.”
Then it pops up with your current reward level selected and highlights the box saying “pledge amount.” I think that some people are just changing the “pledge amount.” But what you need to do is select the new reward level that you want (ex. GLORY). And then go from there.Last updated:
When the kickstarter is over, we will set people up with their goodies on permies. The people at the $80 level and up will be set up to have purchased a dozen physical books. And there will be an upgrade option to a full case.Last updated:
The language rating will be: Perfect! We even made up some new words! Like “VORP!” Vorpitty vorp vorp.
One of our reviewers was contemplating giving the book to people that choose to fear and hate certain words. He counted every spec of potential hate fuel in the book.
To gauge how we did, we looked to the IMDB parental guide stuff for the top 10 (in monies) movies of 2018. It looks like we would be rated “mild” - same as the Disney cartoon “Incredibles 2.” “Deadpool 2” was rated “severe.”
The reviewer’s report points out that we say “own your own shit” twice, “damn” four times and we quote an older document that says “The second observation is that most people find folks one level back to be ignorant and people two levels back seem like assholes.“ That’s it. That’s everything. Apparently, “shit”, “damn” and “assholes” don’t have the punch they had 40 years ago. Since there are about 20 times more total words in our book than the disney movie, I wonder if we score “milder” than the Disney movie. Which is the mildest of the top ten movies of 2018. So we would probably be rated “too mild.” If we want to reach a wider audience, I suppose we should bump the spice and excitement up a few notches just to get to “popular Disney movie level” (or to prove that this book is not under the thumb of some hate group), but I choose to focus on this kickstarter instead.
Of course, if you ask me to come speak to your group, I promise I will use the FULL beauty of the English language. Word police be damned!Last updated:
We have about 40 hours invested in getting the price down this much. Frankly, that’s about 39.75 more hours than we ever wanted to spend learning about international shipping. It’s nuts. We got it to be cheaper - but all we can do is pass our pain onto you. I think your government and our governments are punishing you for something. If you know things we don’t know, please share that information here:
Printing, shipping and fondling of physical books and boxes takes time. So for the few rewards that are entirely digital, we think we can have stuff done earlier.Last updated:

I looked into kickbooster last year and decided against it. Instead, I gave referral codes to anybody who asked and then gave them kickbacks when the kickstarter was over. We are doing this again for this kickstarter. Details here:
Yes, here is the media kit with all the goodies and contact info:
They will be streaming only, but once the reward has been delivered there will be an option to upgrade to a download.Last updated:
Kickstarter works differently than an online store. They will charge you around the time that the campaign ends. And then after a couple of weeks they will tell us who they collected money from. After that we will start to send out the goodies.Last updated:
We have shared an early draft of the manuscript with a few people who have been posting their reviews here:
So far the reviews have been really encouraging!Last updated:
The stretch goal says that Michael Judd's book must be claimed "within 48 hours"... within 48 hours of what? And how?
Once the dust settles after the kickstarter we'll chat with Michael and arrange a date that works well for him and for us. Then we'll probably send out an email in advance to say when the window will be. And definitely one to say the window has started. Details to come later.Last updated:
After the kickstarter is over, we will send an update to all of the backers. It will say something like “if you wish to be considered for this thing, please send an email to…” And then we will take a look at all of the people who want in and select the ones who have put in the most monies. For some things there might be 200 people that want the thing, so only the highest backers will get the thing. And for other things there might only be 4 people that want the thing - so even $1 backers might get the thing.Last updated:
