Polaroid produced chocolate film on a limited run as a specialty product. It is very rare if not the rarest film Polaroid made. Over the past two and a half years here in Southern California I have been sourcing and shooting the two types of chocolate Polaroid- the rectangular Type 100 and the ultra rare Type 80 which is square. This has been quite a challenge as the film is essentially gone and what film is available is expired and does not always work!
It is a very special film with unique properties that seem made for the Southern California landscape which is the setting for all of the photos. The images in the book span a variety of themes from the complications in the life and death of a muse, to a battle ridding ones ego, and the challenges of overcoming addiction. Though personal in nature these are universal to all of us and through the images take on a transferable nature where everyone can tell their own, intimate story. Here are more samples of Chocolate Polaroids from the project. To see some of the photographs which will be featured in the books check out my Tumblr page http://paulkaiserartist.tumblr.com/
This project will be the most comprehensive work in Polaroid's Chocolate film and with your help this vision can be realized. As there is no more film this is it! The photographs have been taken for the book and now it is on to assembling the book. When completed the book will contain over 100 of the best photos and if the stretch goals are achieved then I will be able to complete a special photo shoot into the book which is of high production value.
As I am grateful for your help, all the rewards for this project will be unique to Kickstater and once the Kickstater campaign is competed then the rewards will be a limited edition to how ever many were claimed. The look and feel of this version of the book, digital and physical, will also be unique to Kickstater as a way to show gratitude. This is also the only venue where original photos will be made available as indicated in the reward offers.
Here are the choices for the print options offered in the pledge rewards:
So Where Are The Funds Being Dedicated?
The funds from this campaign will go towards creating a book of the collected Chocolate Polaroids and if the stretch goals are reached then purchasing newly found film and including it in the book as well. Creating the book has some unique costs. These costs include prepping and scanning the physical Polaroids for publication, professional assistance with layout and design of the book, and the physical printing and shipping.
As I mentioned, I recently discovered a film source and if I am able to reach $3800, I can purchase extra film and acquire props to complete a significant body of work to the book. everyone whose rewards include a digital copy of the book or any physical copy of the book will of course have this new section included. Additionally the extra funds will enable better distribution of the book by making limited copies available in selected book stores.

Risks and challenges
The major risk with an initiative such as this is with the film itself. Since the photos have been shot and the collection assembled this is no longer a risk! In creating the strategy for the book I have locked the costs of getting the layout done as well as setup costs with the printing process. The amount targeted to be raised covers these costs and ensures delivery of product at the rewards commitment. Should there be any challenge with layout and printing I have built in contingencies through creating relationships with several printers as alternative to ensure timely deliver of product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
