About
PATIENT SOUNDS (INTL) is a small run / large ambition cassette label and book press currently based in Fort Collins, Colorado. We started releasing our music to the world through our website on September 8th of 2009.

In the last three years we have released 25 tapes, 3 artbooks, and several free albums for download. We love what we do, and we want to do more.
We are asking for your help to take our label into a whole new realm - a giant leap - 5 steps forward, no steps back. UNIVERSAL EXPANSION.

Essentially we are trying to launch 2 records, make some really cool hand-screened shirts and posters, get a 1" button maker and litter your gear with buttons and patches.
The main goal for this project is to press two high-quality limited edition LPs, thus marking the beginning of our vinyl pressing operations here.
the extra gear is to equip us to better shower you with quality artefacts and nice things made with love by us for you.
here are...
/////////////////////////////////////////// THE RECORDS
PSV001 - M. Sage - "Lux Collapsing"

Lux Collapsing is a 40 minute, 8 track meditation on light in the west, decay and forgetting. Based around vinyl samples cut and arranged into short ambient compositions, the album finds its space in the live instruments played over these movements. Cello, flute, and cloudy ambient guitar work (played by a talented cast of Fort Collins-centric guest musicians [Aaron Landgraf, Martin Albertz, Allison Sheldon, Tiffanie Collins]) swirl through the clouds of post-classical ambient waves. Recorded and mixed entirely at Briar Plateaux by M. Sage, Lux Collapsing is a truly modern piece of music focused on the profound nature of light and timelessness.
This record would be pressed on coke-bottle green and milky clear swirled colored vinyl, with full color artwork on a recycled cardboard jacket and would include an 11x17 poster.
This album will be simultaneously released on cassette in a very limited edition by us...with different artwork and some alternate versions of a few tracks...
PSV002 - NATE HENRICKS - "HORSERADISH"

Nate Henricks is a singer-songwriter (to put it lightly) currently living in Denver, Colorado. His first release on Patient Sounds -- "Close Encounters with Green Magic" -- received glowing words on the blogosphere, and innumerable replays in the PS office. We love what Nate does, and we asked him as soon as we could to make us an LP to share with you. Recorded in pieces at the Briar Plateaux with the Plateaux Players (& M. Sage at the deck), with random sounds from Nate's treasure of music on his laptop, this album finds Nate expanding his sound in the studio, playing full on rock songs, and still slamming out abstract nuggets of pop/noise/exercises to fill in the cracks. Heavy nostalgia...soft rock.
This record will be pressed on ultra clear and baby pink swirled vinyl, with full color artwork on a recycled cardboard jacket and would include an 11x17 poster.
This album will be simultaneously released on cassette by the wonderful minds at CRASH SYMBOLS in a limited run of 100 copies.
///
We plan on doing all our pressing through the renowned PIRATE PRESS in San Francisco. We plan on pressing high quality 180 gram colored records in beautifully printed recycled cardboard jackets. We will make and print all artifacts included with these records ourselves, utilizing local printers and service providers at any opportunity. All printing costs and shipping have been factored into our goal and prices.
Any profit resulting from these two records will go to the continual pressing of new records on PS.
/////////////////////////////////////////// WARES / GALLERIA
We want to begin offering limited edition wares, art objects, posters, photographs, books, and other goods through our shop/galleria. These will be made by us, and other artists whose work we cherish.
As for the first ART OBJECTS we are pleased to introduce you to ALEX RUNGE

ALEX is a Fort Collins based artist, graduate of CSU (where he studied painting), resident artist at Rendition Gallery and all around life-shredder. Alex is making an edition of 5 sets of 3 WOODCUTS (each recipient gets 3 woodcuts). He will be sharing some of his other work through the shop in the future.

TIFFANIE COLLINS will also be creating ART OBJECTS for PS (along with running the wares and ordering). She studied art and design at CSU. She will be hand-embroidering clothing, printing shirts and jackets, and other really cool textile artwork, along with making drawings and prints in the future. For the kickstarter she is offering TSHIRTS & SWEATSHIRTS along with customized BACKPACKS full of limited edition PS fares.
////////////////////////////// HELP US MAKE THINGS FOR YOU
We are asking for extra money through this kickstarter to help establish this shop by way of providing us with more advanced silk screening supplies, a 1" button maker and money to cover our new website costs...which are minimal, but we want to be forthright and say, we can't afford stuff for the new website without your help.
////////////// REWARD INFO
We are offering an eclectic collection of rewards up there to the right, along with more standard fare. Grab a copy of one, or both, of the records...or score a sweet handmade PS friendship bracelet. Maybe you want a wooden gnome hand-carved by Nate Henricks...or a backpack stuffed with PS records and gear. Maybe you want to fly to Fort Collins for a weekend...we'd love to have you. Check it out...everything we make for you through this will be made with maximum renegade spirit and love and light.
The world gets darker every day, so that's a relief, right?
THANK YOU SO MUCH

Risks and challenges
Risks: that not enough capital would be made for us to continue pressing records after the initial 2 records in this project are pressed. Having released lots of music on a shoestring budget over the last few years, we feel totally capable of moving forward and finding ways to keep pressing records after our first two. Also, the capital from shirts, art, other wares, and shows will help us to keep moving forward.
Challenges: apart from learning how to accomplish these various processes (pressing records), the only challenge slowing us down now is the challenge of raising our money! We have a network of reliable and experienced friends who have made themselves available to us as resources for information concerning our progress. With their support, and our tenacity, any challenge presented can and should be overcome.
