Patasola's Parlor is a monthly, all-inclusive NYC literary event punctuated by burlesque, dance, music and other art forms, inspired by the bohemian parlors of bygone eras.
The Parlor is founded and presented by poet/performers Lisa Marie Basile and Emily Linstrom (Miss Em). Each event is themed (we've done Bastille Day, Summer of Love, Midsummer, Nautical) and costume play is totally encouraged!
The event is produced by Patasola Press, a small, NYC-based press specializing in innovative poetry and prose with a special focus on female writers. Visit www.patasolapress.org for more details.
The Parlor strives to include everyone: talented artists, performers, musicians and poets. We make it a point to bring the performance to you—at our events there is little separation between the audience and the performer. It's immersive, sexy and fun.
We need your help! Your donation will help fund performer payments (we have always strived to pay performers fairly and with respect to their hard work and craft), production costs & our new project, an exquisite corpse chapbook, which invites words from performers, fans of the Parlor, producers, donors and the collective public. AND! Special guest editor JOSEPH QUINTELA will contribute to the chapbook, mashing the bits that YOU send in. All donors are encouraged to submit: email@example.com
So far, we've brought the poets JENNIFER TAMAYO, LENEA GRACE, KIELY SWEATT, LILY LADEWIG, IAN BROWN, DAVID GIBBS, NATHALIA PEROZO, DANIELLE LANZET, MEGHANN PLUNKETT, MONICA McCLURE, MARY LOU BUSCHI, LISA MARIE BASILE andmore to the Parlor.
We've also brought you performances by DOTTIE DYNAMO, IRIS EXPLOSiON, LUCILLE TI AMORE, LEWD ALFRED DOUGLAR, JEMINI BLONDE, BOOTS LAMAE, CASSANDRA ROSEBEETLE, MATT LOGAN & MISS EM.
Every dollar helps! Help us create a fair-paying, fun, sexy event and publication series that welcomes all talented artists, and most of all, merges the literary with the performative!

Risks and challenges
Setbacks and risks are what every creative production faces, and because we live in a highly competitive city, it's a leap of faith to invest in an artistic endeavor! However, every dime goes into making sure our performers are paid, production costs are lower and our chapbook is published, and what's better than that?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
