Dear backer please read carefully:
- Integrity now has its own set of cards, with different back, jokers and color scheme.
- The Special Edition of Integrity can't be obtained as add-on anymore! The Integrity decks in the limited tiers are always available.
- Integrity Standard Edition (not limited, not foiled and with standard paper for the tuck case) is now available both as a reward and add-on.
- Nobody has to change his current pledge level to get the Integrity Standard Edition: new tiers have been created for the new backers, but everyone will be able to choose the preferred mix during the survey.
"In Korea, on the Supreme Court's palace, three words are engraved on the wall: Liberty Equality and Justice. I wanted to create a playing cards project revolving around those concepts. My idea is that you can't have real freedom without Equality and Justice."
The "Lady of Justice" is usually represented as blindfolded, because she's not going to judge by appearances. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. The scale means equality, perfect balance. The sword, on the other hand, is used to administer justice.
With the two twin decks: Equality and Justice, we wanted to emphasize both aspects, that's the reason why the "Lady of Justice" in Equality and Justice holds higher, respectively, the scale and the sword.
This project has been designed with poker players, magicians and cardisters in mind. The clean court cards make both decks very usable in all the occasions.
It’s worth noting that Equality is a marked deck and the clever marking system designed by John Cho is illustrated in this "backers only" update.
The courts are the first instance of the standard that Giordano Loddo has designed for Passione Playing Cards, and from this project on they will be sported on a (long) series of decks.
The Jokers in Equality and Justice represent the Lady of Justice in the two forms concieved by John Cho.
While the Integrity edition presents the All Seeing Sun, imagined by Giordano Loddo, as the Joker, that was present in the background in the other decks (how can you have justice and equality without integrity? Of course it was there from the beginning).
Usually it's the Ace of Hearts to be the the special one in all the Passione Playing Cards decks. In this case we decided to be more traditional, to increase the usability of the cards.
Integrity has a different color scheme, matching the theme.
You can add decks, bricks and uncut sheets on top of your pledge! If you want a different mix of Equality and Justice you will be able to request that during the surveys (this does not apply to the single tier and the couple).
Equality and Justice Playing Cards will be printed by WJPCC (SHENZHEN WANGJING PRINTING CO., LTD.). You can check the quality of their production by listening to the reviews of renowed collector, cardister an magicians:

Passione is a brand of custom playing cards, aimed to bring Italian design and Italian culture into the world of custom playing cards, to promote the culture of custom playing cards and to be a reference for the cardistry movement in Italy.
"This project belongs both to John Cho and to the Passione Team. It belongs to John because it's his idea. He designed the back and the original courts, decided the color scheme, and also created the clever marking system present on Equality. It belongs to the Passione Team, because we started from there and changed the courts, (that now are our standard court cards), of course being faithful to the original theme and style and with John's blessing.
Giordano Loddo, after designing the standard Passione courts and adapting them to the style and color scheme of the project, tackled the boxes with very strict requirements: to be classy, cool and to belong to the playing cards tradition. Mission accomplished.
We then got excited about how the project was developing, and decided to create a promotional video: Stefano Protino, veteran designer for Passione and author of Pizza and Inferno Playing Cards, really amazed us with his original illustrations and animations! We want to thank him for his awesome support.
Special thanks also to Giordano Loddo for the final review of the finshed decks: with little touches on the back design and on the boxes he harmonized all of the elements and created a unified and coherent set of decks we are really proud of."
Riccardo Conturbia, founder of Passione Playing Cards
John Cho (A.K.A Yohan Cho, JC) is a playing card designer from South Korea. He has been releasing various designs of playing cards in his country and worldwide via Kickstarter with the "JD14 Presents" brand.
He has been passionate about drawing illustrations since he was 11 years old. After playing Texas Holdem with his friends, he found great interest in the design of playing cards.
After his first Kickstarter campaign playing card, 'Treble clef playing cards', he recently released 'Nautilus playing cards' and 'Aurora playing cards' with never ending passion.
Giordano Loddo is a digital art director from Italy. His love for the cards comes from his childhood, when he spent a lot of time playing traditional Italian games. Thanks to his grandma he is now a master in “Scopa”, “Scala 40” and “Pinnacola”, and a pretty good “Briscola” player too.
That is why he caught with a lot of enthusiasm the opportunity to work with Passione.
When not busy designing interfaces or playing cards, you can find him headbanging in the first rows at almost every metal concert that hits his area, or traveling abroad to reach some crazy festival.
Risks and challenges
As any other project, playing cards projects do have risks. In this case the production is not complex, the deck is intentionally clean and printing should not bring any additional issue.
As for the delays, we do our best to minimize them, but sometimes it just happens, we will do our best to ensure that any issue is promptly communicated to you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
