There are many options under consideration, including using stencils/paint, or wood burner, or a small dremel tool. Inscriptions will most likely start appearing on the cedar decking late this summer (mid-late August). We'll send you a personal message via Kickstarter as soon as yours is complete!
We are starting construction on Monday, May 21st. Constructing the exterior frame/enclosure will take about 4 weeks. The landscaped zones will be installed in several phases to accommodate the anticipated soil settlement. Planting will last throughout the spring and summer.
Sausalito-based Forsythe General Contractors (http://www.forsythegc.com/) will be doing all the carpentry and fabrication work on-site. They specialize in architecturally unique residential design-build work. We consider ourselves lucky to have them working with us on this project! if you stop by to check out the construction zone, say hi to Mark, Augustin, and Emilcar!
We want the parklet to function more like an outdoor living room that everyone can use... and less like an outdoor dining room just for farm:table. Currently, we don't plan on having permanent tables and chairs in the parklet. Luke and Zoe at OP Architects (http://www.oparch.net/) have designed clearings within the landscape with built-in benches, perches, and ledges which encourage casual seating and lounging -- without a strict cafe-style seating layout.
