Lovely people, welcome to this Kickstarter campaign to complete my second full length album: Superdeep! This Album has been in production for the last two years and holds 60 minutes of deeply psychedelic dubby adventures. The goal of this campaign is to release Superdeep on CDs in handcrafted wooden cases, make a synæsthetic special edition, screen print on organic and fair-trade produced t-shirts and print environment friendly A2 posters.
Since my debut Album 'In The Moment' was released through kickstarter in 2016, I am able to offer my sounds in beautifully handmade casings. All the joy, contained in the looks on people’s faces, motivates me massively to continue releasing my music in alternative housings. For the last step of production I need your support to make this project happen.
As Pangani, I fuse otherworldly soundscapes, live instruments and deep electronics into a liquid flow of bubbly dub worlds. To give you a taste of my new creations, I melded various section of every one of the album’s chapter into this 5 minutes teaser.
The music on Superdeep is in a way the outcome of a very emotional time, where some major steps that happened within the personal sphere. I was fortunate to become a father of an unbelievably cute boy, married my wonderful wife Rahel, was invited to play my music for so many souls in parties and festival around the globe and - one of the biggest challenges of all - trying to make a living through my artistic practices. While living through all those changes, I’m so thankful, for all the opportunities that have presented themselves.
In my live shows, sound-designed puzzle-pieces meet the "foleyboard", a self-built percussive synthesizer. It contains a sound reactive wooden surface, on which all kind of objects are used to generate sounds, which are than manipulated to shape sonic landscapes. This setup enables me to improvise and let my audience experience electronic live music in a one-man-band setup.
Artwork + Poster
The 'Superdeep' artwork is the result of a 8 month process of programming and animating kaleidoscopic liquids, making still images and molding my favourite parts together. If you watched the video above, you would have seen some examples of the moving liquids.
Each Track has its own symbol and colors. The album artwork forms a kaleidoscopic mosaic out of them.
The A2 (42cm x 59,4cm) poster shows the full amount of detail drawn into the album artwork. The posters are printed (offset) on environmentally friendly 170g/m² paper with colours, obtained from natural resources.
The CD packaging is made out of 100% biodegradable material without any plastic and will be released into the world via a hand crafted wooden box. I wanted to integrate the concept of depth into the packaging and came up with a box, where you have to dig *super*deep into the packaging to get the full experience.
Details of the artwork are shining through the cut outs of the front cover. The pine wood of the lid is finished with Shou Sugi Ban, a japanese wood flaming technique.
I laser cut out all the single parts in a maker lab in Salzburg (Austria) and assemble all individual parts by hand afterwards.
The T-shirts hold a 2 layered interpretation of the album artwork, which will be screen printed on organic and fair trade T-shirts. A MAN's / Unisex T-shirt in deep blue and a Female (long) T-shirt in black are available. The colours used are all non toxic and Oeko-Tex licensed.
FRONT: The first layer is grey and forms a kaleidoscopic structure, which will be decorated with a fluorescent neon blue layer of details. In blacklight, the blue color will shine bright!
BACK: The Pangani Logo will be printed together with Superdeep on the neck.
The synæsthetic edition adds another layer to the Pangani adventure by tickling another of your senses: smell.
It is a wood layered artifact, which holds 8 essential oil compositions, one for each track. For this purpose, I teamed up with a healer, who uses scents in her work. We used high-quality essential oils with "Therapeutic Grade" to compose the smells, that the body effect of the oils set a base for the music to continue the journey.
Just imagine yourself relaxing comfortably while the music and scents take you on a journey.
Pangani in Ritual
I believe that one's senses (sight, smell, temperature, pain, taste,... ) have a strong influence on the perception of music and what it can offer you. In my Pangani in Ritual concerts, I experiment since 2015 with multiple speakers around the audience, ambient lights, and scent to include the whole space into the performance. If you think about taking the Ritual package, please PM me and we will find ways to make it possible.
What happens with the money?
- Compensation for all the musicians, who allowed me to manipulate and mold their improvisations into my soundworlds.
- High-end Mastering by Michele Gaggia, who did already an amazing job in polishing 'In The Moment'
- Buying materials (wood, glue, more wood, essential oils...)
- Printing environment friendly booklets and posters
- Press CDs

Risks and challenges
I can't see any real risks involved in this project. The music is done, I have a working prototype of all packagings and there are a bunch of wonderful people waiting to glue, cut, fold, roll, .. to keep my dream alive.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
