This is Silent Titans.
It's been a while coming.
But what is it? Silent Titans is an adventure for table top role playing games, written by Patrick Stuart, writer of Veins of the Earth, Deep Carbon Observatory, Fire on the Velvet Horizon and a few other things, laid out by Christian Kessler who did layout for Fever Swamp, the award winning book from Melsonian Arts Council, and with art by Dirk Leichty, of Troika, Codex Zine and Slade Stolar's Dust, Fog and Glowing Embers, a so-far unacknowledged near-genius we were lucky to stumble into.
Wir-Heal itself is a time lost peninsula built on the tangled and comatose bodies of world-destroying trans-dimensional titans and suffering under a curse which slowly reduces its inhabitants to the status of wild woodwose.
On top of that, what government does exist is arguably not the finest, being dominated by an obese, cunning and rapacious feudal lord obsessed with extracting taxes and keeping out the kingdom's near-mythical enemies.
The player characters fall through reality under Mysterious Circumstances™ and end up in Wir-Heal, the plughole of the metaverse.
Their only real problems are that they are lost in time, cut off from the rest of reality, dirt poor and that the Titans themselves are waking up and going to end the world.
As well as that, they have pissed off an evil Pig.
To prevail and escape Wir-Heal they must brave its nightmare-haunted shifting realities, find ways beneath the land, break into the Titans' sleeping minds and steal their golden thoughts. This will put the Titans back to sleep, shift the realities back to something more closely approximating normal, and you get to keep the gold.
A simple enough operation.
What about the rules though? The rules are based on the first edition of Chris McDowall's Into the Odd ruleset. Character generation is integrated into the adventure/game. Players are given specific, named characters to play, though a lot is left open to their interpretation (an idea I stole from Chris Himself).
The opening adventure is a classic 'in media res' Patrick-style opening which brings the players directly into the first dungeon and gives them stuff to do right away.
Silent Titans was designed to be simple and clear enough that a new Referee and new players can pick it up and start playing without needing any other books or experience.
And the physical book itself? Will it be nice? You’d better believe it. Silent Titans is being published by Swordfish Islands LLC (the team behind Hot Springs Island) and printed by Friesens up in Canada (the company that printed Maze of the Blue Medusa, and Hot Springs Island).
Binding? Sewn. Paper? As luxurious as that found in Veins of the Earth. Color? Everywhere. Ribbon bookmark? Of course. Archival quality everything? You bet. End papers printed with useful information? Absolutely. A dust jacket possessing both beauty and utility? Indeed. Foil stamping? On the book itself for sure, and maybe even on the dust jacket if the Kickstarter really takes off. A cloth cover? As gold as the Titan’s dreams.

And that's it then? Just the book? Oh no. There's more. If the Kickstarter goes over $9000, we will unlock two supplemental booklets, tentatively titled Characters, Cartograms and Foolscap Errata.
The first, is a 20 page, A4 sized booklet containing large (11.69” x 16.53”) maps of Wir-Heal, the Titans and other notable locations. Its spine will be saddle stitched (stapled) making it easy to fold open for use at the table.
The second, is an expandable, destructible, A4 sized booklet of paper miniatures. If the first stretch goal is hit it will be 8 pages long, then expand to 16 pages and 24 pages as additional stretch goals are hit. The miniatures will feature everything from player characters, to monsters and large bosses that can easily be cut out and folded to stand on the table.
Work on these booklets is nearly complete. We expect to have physical proofs of the map booklet and 8 page minis booklet in hand before the Kickstarter ends, so watch this space for more details as the project progresses.
$9,000 – If we surpass $9000, Characters, Cartograms and Foolscap Errata will be unlocked.
$14,800 – Reaching this goal will enable us to increase the size of the print run of Silent Titans to 2000 copies. It will also increase the size of the Paper Minis Booklet from 8 pages, to 16.
$20,600 – Reaching this goal will enable us to bump the print run up to 3000 copies, and take the Paper Minis Booklet from 16 to 24 pages.
We have a number of other stretch goals waiting in the wings that will be announced as we approach them.
Shipping will be a separate charge calculated and collected when backer surveys are sent out.
As of this time, all books will ship from the United States via the US Postal Service.
We understand that this will make international shipping pricey and are pursuing several different options to combat that. If we are able to secure better rates for international shipping than the standard USPS rates, we will make an update with that information immediately.
Import duties, taxes (VAT), and additional charges are not included in the price or shipping cost. Any additional charges added on by the destination country will be your responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine if there will be any additional costs, and what they might be.

Risks and challenges
Swordfish Islands LLC (the company behind Hot Springs Island) is going to publish 1000 copies of this amazing adventure regardless of the outcome of this Kickstarter. It's that good. We've come to Kickstarter in an effort to upgrade the quality of the book, expand the size of the initial print run, and create a couple excellent supplements of maps and paper miniatures. The initial goal of the Kickstarter will also help Patrick, Christian and Dirk recover expenses they have incurred over the past two years that were necessary to make Silent Titans happen, such as editing and scanning the artwork.
As of this time the writing, art and editing have all been completed. The layout of Silent Titans is ~95% done.
Swordfish Islands LLC has printed and fulfilled one Kickstarter. In the event that unexpected issues arise, Jacob has extensive experience in customer service, customer service management, and customer service operations. We will communicate constantly, transparently, and keep you fully informed of any situation as it unfolds.
We expect to be able to fulfill digital rewards as soon as the Kickstarter ends. Delivery of all physical rewards is expected for April 2019, but we are pushing hard to make it happen even earlier.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
