Does anyone know if AltiaSystems is still in business?
There is no response to messages sent via their helpdesk, and the phone number listed on their website has a message from the phone company that the number has been disconnected...

      Hi Rune,

The PC app has been available for a while and the Android app has just been released. Please take a look at our website.

Mr Khan, wondering what the status is, patience on Kickstarter being what it is, I still have only your video to keep me interested.

      Hi Rune,

Yash and I spoke about this earlier today and Yash will update you on your schedule. I'm on the road this whole week (Washington DC and Orlando) and will have limited access to email.

We are getting more cameras now from the China suppliers and the engineering team has directly taken on final integration in Cupertino. The delivery rate is still limited but we are getting product to customers steadily.

Thanks, Wang: it was great to meet with you and the team, and thanks for dropping by to pick up your PanaCast camera. Let's PanaCast when you are back in China!

    7. wang on May 8, 2013

It was a great visit this afternoon!
The team is working really hard and do impressed me what they are trying to do.

There are a lot of interesting things will be generated.

      Hi Kurt,

Sorry for the delay! We had expedited delivery of the camera build kits to the US to build the current batch of cameras and one final IC missing from the kit was due today, and it did arrive today. So we anticipate getting the manufacturing build started tomorrow (as planned) and should be able to ship the bulk of the remaining cameras in late May.

    9. Kurt H. on April 28, 2013

Perhaps I missed an update, I was expecting a camera from the "February" lot. Would it be possible to get an update on when that allotment might ship?

    10. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on March 23, 2013

Sorry, we'll do so this weekend. As a start-up, we often get single-threaded with work. We’ve been traveling a lot the last two weeks. We were selected to participate in the CableLabs Innovation Showcase, which is a by-invitation event of the cable industry, held March 11-13 in Orlando, FL.. Nine companies were selected to present new technology at the event and, to share a bit of good news with you, we received their award, based on voting by the participants: “Altia Systems has the ‘Best New Idea’ in CableLabs® Conference Poll,” ( This week, Lars and Dan were at Enterprise Connect, again in Orlando, FL.

It would be great to have another progress update. I posted a question on March 6th in the most recent update (#19), but it went unanswered unfortunately.

    12. Amer Haider on March 21, 2013

I got my two cameras. I put one in our conf. room and one in my office. People are really impressed with the ability join group meetings with good video quality from their phone or ipad.

      Hi Irawan,

We've been moving offices this week; we moved from our old office last Thursday/Friday and are now trying to set up the new one.

      Happy Holidays!

In the interest of being transparent I want to share with you the cost that Altia Systems is paying in providing the Audio bridge from a 3rd party called TurboBridge. Please understand this is not a commitment by Altia Systems for its price and we reserve the right to charge for the additional costs we occur in providing the service as part of the PanaCast experience.

The pricing for TurboBridge is on:

Thanks for your support and understanding.

Thanks, but it seems like Altia will not be disclosing the cost of the audio bridge subscription before the project ends. Will explore, cheers!

    21. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on December 12, 2012

Please see the Update #10 on audio support just posted. We are planning to work with a ClearOne USB speakerphone but the exact model and price has not been selected. Do you have a recommendation?

      Hi Aurangzeb,
Just read your 2nd Dec TechCrunch Press Release that "Altia has committed to selling it for $700 without any microphones." That customers will want to choose our own. For those of us who like the total Video with Audio synced solution, do you have a recommendation? Could you kindly demonstrate the ease of use with a generic mic for the synced set-up and result through the current available App? Please and thanks!

    23. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on December 7, 2012

Thanks for the clarification. We do plan to support up to 10 remote locations / participants via our cloud infrastructure. We are working on the cost for this solution but right now we need a bit more time. When you need 11 or more remote locations / participants we plan to work with a broadcast partner(s). Again we need a bit more time to understand the cost structure. Do you have a preferred broadcast provider?

Thanks for your comments and support.

      Thomas on December 7, 2012

Thanks for your prompt feedback, truly appreciate your effort to answer our queries. I was however thinking of more than 2 simultaneous remote locations / participants. Options like more than 10, 50, 100, 500, etc...
Will keep a look out for THAT additional info though. Cheers!

    25. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on December 6, 2012

As per FAQ number #2 there are NOT any mandatory usage or subscriptions fees to use the camera with 2 simultaneous remote participants. There are some caveats around using the camera in a mode which does not reply on using our cloud. We will provide more information on this shortly.

      Hi Aurangzeb,
As the final streaming of videos appears to be a subscription model, would you be disclosing
the price plan of that in ratio to the bandwidth / no. of attendees, BEFORE this project ends?
      Please kindly advise, thanks much!

    27. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 27, 2012

@Matteo, We agree. We are working on an update to talk about Audio. Thanks for your feedback.

    28. Matteo Baceda on November 27, 2012

I believe that something that should be discussed with a little more detail is the sound sync issue. If you want to use other devices to broadcast sound, you will most definitively run into sound sync issues. If sound is out of sync, the whole experience is compromised.
Skype really took off when using proprietary technology they started to overcome the bandwidth issues that initially plagued them, and offer an acceptable video with great synced sound. A conference call (the most typical use I suppose of the PanaCast camera) with no sound would be of little use to my or other organizations.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

    29. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 19, 2012

We do plan to support API. Right now you can use VLC to watch the output from the Camera.

    30. wang on November 17, 2012

      Hi Aurangzeb

Do you also support API for application development?

      Best Regards!

    31. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 15, 2012

@Jamie OK understand. Will make the full resolution file available for playing with VLC. We will host on DropBox or some other file server not Vimeo. Please give us a few days to shoot this video.

    32. Jamie on November 15, 2012

@Aurangzeb to clarify I was trying to say I didn't want the video uploaded to Vimeo / Youtube where it would be sampled down / recompressed. I want to see a full spec/sized recording as would be received by the receiving device [iphone / desktop app].

    33. Missing avatar

      on November 15, 2012

+ 1 @ Jamie. I would like to see the uncompressed streaming version too.

    34. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 15, 2012

@Jamie We will work on creating this video tomorrow. The camera does not output uncompressed video. We have an integrated H.264 encoded. Panoramic-HD video would be far to large.

    35. Jamie on November 15, 2012

I'd like to see a recorded full resolution sample as a download [not a compressed streaming version though an online service but a file] showing a room like you have used previously with some one walking / moving past the camera at different distances so I can see at what point the separate images converge / break up and how it looks with the seams.

    36. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 14, 2012

@Ashgill thans for the feedback. Your suggestion is a very good one. I will look to see if it is possible, but from memory I don't think its possible to purchase two cameras under Kickstarter rules.

    37. Ashgill on November 14, 2012

We use Arecont SurroundVideo cameras ( right now, and the PanaCast will be a far more economic option for in-building streaming. We're looking forward to trying this out, both as a stand-alone deployment, and combined with our SurroundVideo cameras! (The PanaCast can provide a low resolution high frame rate stream, with the SurroundVideo providing a high resolution low frame rate stream)

Wish you offered a "Pair" reward, so that we can try streaming bi-directionally between two sites!

    38. Aurangzeb Khan Creator on November 13, 2012

@Jost, The PanaCast system directly connects to the internet. We are working with a broadcast provider which will allow 1000's of people to simultaneously watch the live video feed in a web browser. E.g. at a concert.

@Jamie & @Asher, the resolution of the camera is 2700 x 540 pixels which is 'Panoramic-HD'. This is much higher than the 1920 horizontal resolution of 'Full HD 1080p'. Our client apps allow the user to digitally pan and zoom. You can read the whiteboard. Please check out the example videos. Currently the camera outputs a single stream, but in the future we may zoom and crop in the camera.

@Asher, Currently the camera only streams. We are looking at options to record the streaming including using the USB port on the camera and recording in the Cloud. We are looking for feedback on the applications of this feature. For development we use the Open Source VLC player app to record the video streams.

If you have specific questions instead of comment please send me a direct message. Thanks for your interest.

This looks cool. I have a couple of questions about it though.

      1. You have described this as an HD camera, but it only seems to have 540 lines of resolution. Is this an error?

      2. You said that local and remote storage options are under review. Does this mean that I can't actually use this camera to record video, only to live stream it?

    40. Jamie on November 13, 2012

The vertical height seems quite low, at least for applications of zooming in to read a whiteboard for example. Or am I understanding it wrong and the video is zoomed / cropped from the camera and streamed to the device? rather then a single stream from the camera that is cropped and zoomed by the recieving device?

    41. Jost Jahn on November 13, 2012

Nice project. It would be fine, if I can use the PanaCast also as a Webcam.
