A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
The TabStrap is the perfect iPad Pro holder for those who use it on-the-go and want to keep it firm in hand. It also doubles as a stand or a writing base. For some time now we've wanted to bring this product to market, now the TabStrap will finally be available with the help of you, the one who will actually enjoy it as much as we do.
"The fact that it doubles as a (surprisingly useful) stand is just a massive layer of icing on the cake." - Timoteus, early tester
"Since I got the early prototype of the TabStrap one year ago I haven't stopped asking Pack&Smooch when it will reach the market. It's so good!" - Jan creator of the PaperLike
"My iPad now finally feels right in my hand, and the TabStrap's material selection not only looks great, but also feels like real high quality!" - Annika, early tester
Switch easily between strap, stand or slanted writing/drawing-board
With the simple pull of a lever you can unlatch the strap from the back of your iPad, when you need a lower profile. Putting it back on is a breeze, just hold it in position and it will latch itself back on with an audible click so you know it‘s secured and ready to go.
Finally a place for Apple Pencil and its cap
With the input of the PaperLike community, we have also included an Apple Pencil holder, which apart from its obvious use, will also be perfect for storing the pencil’s cap while it’s charging.
A perfect stand for typing along
Because of the TabStrap‘s thin profile and position, you‘ll be able to use the Smart Keyboard without any interference. And if you have an affordable bluetooth keyboard, you can use the TabStrap as a stand when typing along.
Switching between the carrying position, to the stand is as simple as it gets. Just turn the strap into itself and you'll have a great stand for writing, watching movies, or anything you'd want to do with a standing iPad. - Oh, and it also works in portrait mode!
It also works in portrait mode!
"Consider showing that the stand works in portrait mode as well – it's actually quite rare." - Timoteus, early tester
Works with all iPads and many more tablets
It doesn’t matter which iPad you have, the TabStrap feels great when carrying even the biggest iPad. A powerful adhesive-less micro-suction-tape keeps the TabStrap secure on the tablet‘s smooth back, you‘ll be amazed of how stable and light it feels when carrying it. You can also use the TabStrap on tablets with a smooth back, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, Fire HD 8 and more. The general rule is, if the back is smooth and air-tight it will hold.*
In our calculations we found out that, the TabStrap's oversized suction tape should be able to carry up to 44kg (97 pounds) when stuck on glass. As a reference, the big 12-inch iPad Pro weighs 692 grams (1.53 pounds)! This means the TabStrap's suction tape could in principle carry the weight of 63 such tablets! We know that's a huge exaggeration, and in our tests we have found out that it won't carry more than 8kg (17 pounds - 11 times the 12' iPad Pro's weight). Anyhow, our point is: The TabStrap will carry any tablet, no matter what weight as long as it has a smooth stable back - period! .
High quality materials: Pure vegetable tanned leather and 100% Merino wool felt
For the strap we use the highest quality of merino wool, which feels great to the touch and avoids any kinds of smells. And for the micro-suction-side we use pure vegetable tanned leather, that not only looks awesome, but also has a nice feel to it!
Choose between 2 classy colour combinations
The TabStrap is available in "Blonde" and "Brunette" colour combinations.

A cooperation with Jan Sapper
This campaign is managed by Jan Sapper, the creator of the PaperLike, the first screen protector that specialises in mimicking the feel of paper when using the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro. He's an experienced crowd-funder and he'll make sure this campaign runs smoothly. He also didn't stop annoying us about finally bringing the TabStrap to market, as he got an early prototype and even used it on his Kickstarter video. Have a look on his website.

Risks and challenges
Manufacturing and quality control: We've got years of experience manufacturing highest-quality accessories for Apple products. We know this rodeo, so we don't expect any risk there.
Distribution: The complexity of the distribution depends strongly on how successful this campaign becomes. We have experience in managing high product order volumes, and it hasn't been a problem yet. If we do end up having a problem, it will most probably be a luxury problem and you'll be informed early about any delays. So let's hope for the best. ;-)
Unforeseeables: If you are a regular Kickstarter user, you will know the inherent risks that we face when launching a Kickstarter project. The most common one is dealing with unforeseeable situations and unforeseeable problems. Which I can’t list here due to the mere nature of these and the vast amount of improbable things that might happen and the ones that will end up happening. Herewith we pledge that we will tackle any problem with our best energy and competence. We have a team of experienced problem-solvers who will get this project through any hiccup, and you'll take part in this adventure by receiving regular updates.
