Simply put, OwnPhones are custom made to be the best-fitting, best-sounding, most versatile earphones you’ve ever worn. Period. They are the world’s first wirless, 3D printed earbuds custom made to match your personality. They are designed to fit perfectly because your OwnPhones will be built exclusively for your ears. Say what?!
That’s right. They’re 3D printed just for you. And with thousands of combinations of features and three different models to choose from, your pair of OwnPhones will be your very own. They represent a combination of the very latest in 3D printing, Bluetooth technology and personal audio.
Along with being custom 3D printed according to your personality and activities, they’re also completely wireless, cancel noise around you and can even be made to fit your lifestyle with an ergonomic custom fit. If you want something that’ll stay in place when you’re running or biking, there’s an OwnPhones for that. If you want something that’s stylish, more like a piece of jewelry than a pair of headphones, there’s an OwnPhones for that. If you want a pair of earbuds that sound great and fit perfectly to your ear, well we have just the OwnPhones for you.

Right now, we offer
four types of OwnPhones. They are: Fit, Designer Fit, Smart Fit and Jewelry
Collection. Each of these offers 3D printing with a custom fit, but each brings
a slightly different experience.
Here’s a little about each one:
Your Fit earbuds are custom designed and fitted to stay in your ear – no matter your activity or workout. Each pair is 3D printed for you, based on a scan of your ears using the OwnPhones app. Plus, they’re wireless so there’s no cord to tangle or get caught up in your business. OwnPhones features amazing sound with the versatility of delivering a great stereo experience or functioning as a headset for your car or bike. And they also look great – with smart lines and a smooth finish. Check these out below:
The Designer Fit steps up the style a notch by giving you a choice of graphics and a glossy finish to your OwnPhones. This is designer fashion teaming up with high-end audio – a combination that lets you make a very loud statement. We are continuing to add more designs weekly, but here are some current examples:
• Environmental Sound Level – You choose how much of the world comes in – seal it off completely, or a combination of your music and the sounds of the street around you.
• Real World Notifications – Need to hear an alarm clock, or a train announcement, or a friend’s voice? You can configure specific sounds to be heard right from our mobile app.
• Own Status – An LED on your OwnPhones can tell people around you if you’re available to talk– red light says your are busy, yellow light says you are busy but can be approached, green light means you are available for a chat.
The OwnPhones Jewelry Collection will give you a chance to enjoy your music while staying in style. If you want to express your artistic side and make a real statement, then our Jewelry line does just that. This is truly the next level in audio fashion and a great way to turn heads no matter where you wear them. You can choose a unique design or shape, add silver, brass, bronze and gold plating, or gemstones to give your earbuds some bling. Take a look at these options:
We believe that earphones should not just look like a tech accessory. Since they’re like anything else we wear on our body, OwnPhones should reflect our style, taste and personality.
That’s why we’re reaching out to the design community to join OwnPhones and make earbuds a design statement. If you’re a designer you can join our designer program and share or sell your designs on our platform. You’ll receive our technical guidelines for designing OwnPhones. Once your design is approved, they’ll appear in our collections. You’ll also have a dedicated page on OwnPhones website that will display all your designs.
Could your brand use its own OwnPhones? Join our Brand Designer Program. This program is intended for fashion or design brands, sport teams, or any group that would like to be able to offer their own designs to the OwnPhones community.

Your contribution will be used to:
- Design and manufacture additional electronics component (True Wireless Stereo, SoundScaping chip).
- Complete a database of fully-scanned ears for statistical analyses. Develop processes for automated photogrammetry correction.
- Purchase production-level 3D printers and post-processing machinery.
OwnPhones began in the mind of founder and CEO, Itamar Jobani, when he was frustrated with his own earbuds constantly falling out (he likes to jog!) His extensive work with 3D modeling, scanning and printing led him to set up his own team to create the next generation of earbuds. Our team includes experts from many different disciplines: programmers, electronics engineers, 3D modelers, industrial designers and more.
Risks and challenges
Advancing Our Scanning Technology
We’re still perfecting the scanning process. Right now, we’ve automated about 80% of the photogrammetry and this is a remarkable achievement. However, we want to do better. And the custom solution for fully-analyzing the 3D ear scans from 2D video is mindbogglingly complex.
We’re correcting the common errors by collecting comparative data of mobile scans with high definition scans. We also automated many parts of the surface extraction by developing a custom process that uses border detection in combination with statistical information of ears scans. However, this process demands many programming hours and the expansion of our high-resolution ear scan database. This is one of the reason we need your support.
Our goal is OwnPhones for everyone. We’ll get there by continuing to minimize the electronics without compromising features or quality, continuing to streamline and perfect our scanning and manufacturing processes. After all, some people have very small ears. We’re not there yet, but as we continue to make more advances, we will be able to offer everyone their own OwnPhones.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
