Role Pins are a collection of hard enamel pins inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, other tabletop role-playing games, and the multitude of enamel pins that are already out there—of which I have started collecting furiously! The idea is that each pin can be applied to multiple classes/subclasses depending on your role.
I have previously designed d20 (icosahedron) pins which I distributed at DnD Live 2019 "The Descent" and sold on Etsy. I have two other pins currently in production.
Thank you so much; I truly appreciate you pledging to my Kickstarter, signal boosting, or even just checking it out!
The first three pins—Life, Death, and Study—might be applicable to multiple classes or subclasses. Clerics might find the Life and Death pins appealing. Necromancers may be drawn to the Death and/or Study pins. Similarly, other spell-casters may identify with the Study pin.
Each pin will be hard enamel and 1.5" at their widest point. They will be black nickel, have a back stamp, and two backing nails with black rubber clutches. Each pin will be mounted on its own backing card and placed in a protective poly bag or envelope. The early bird rate is $8, the Kickstarter rate is $9, and—after funding—pins will available in my Etsy store for $10.
The following nine pins can be unlocked as funding goals are reached. You will be able to select the appropriate number of pins (per your pledge level) of the ones unlocked once the campaign has ended. Check back regularly to see which pins have been unlocked.
We unlocked all stretch goals—reaching $4,800, an unbelievable 400% funded!—in the first 4 hours.
As a special and additional reward to celebrate the success of the Kickstarter campaign, I am immediately releasing a special 13th pin: Weaver. This is available to all existing pledge tiers. A new pledge tier titled "SPECIAL" is available at the discounted price of $113 that includes one of each pin.
The Kickstarter will run for 30 days. Surveys will go out shortly after the campaign ends and pins will go into immediate production once funds are received. Surveys should be completed promptly so that pins can ship as soon as they arrive. Production can take upwards of two months so expect pins to ship in the beginning of October.
Approx half of the raised funds will go towards print production which includes manufacturing the pins and printing the backer cards. Approximately a third will go towards shipping (based on projected domestic/international shipping expenses). The rest goes towards shipping supplies, fees and any additional expenses.

Risks and challenges
While this is my first Kickstarter, I have previously designed, ordered and sold pins as well as other merchandise (postcards, stickers, t-shirts, etc.) I am a full-time Graphic Designer and am intimately familiar with the print production process of many materials. That said, I have never personally produced enamel pins but I do have a trusted vendor that I am working closely with.
All twelve designs have been reviewed and approved by the manufacturer but there could be minor changes to the design (including detail and colours). Any changes will be communicated to backers. Please be aware that how colours appear on your monitor may not accurately reflect how they look printed.
It is also worth noting that a fraction of pins will arrive with minor damage or imperfections. This is perfectly normal and to be expected. I will hand-check every pin for imperfections. These pins—often referred to as Grade B or Seconds—will not be distributed to backers. To combat this I will be ordering an excess of pins. If there is a sizable quantity of Grade B pins, a reprint will be negotiated with the manufacturer. This means there is a chance that some pins may be delayed in shipping. I will communicate any delays or issues during production and shipping.
I insist on mailing pins with tracking. I have previously had issues with pins going missing during shipping. If pins are lost or damaged in the mail, please contact me directly to discuss options.
You will only be able to select pins from those unlocked.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
