Osiris is a short film about a JPL scientist whose life’s work explodes in the Mars sky. After the disaster, he must confront the things he has sacrificed for the mission, and decide which is more important, his family or his ambition.
This story is about attempting great things, and falling short, and has been in development for more than a decade. It explores the creative energy needed to shoot for the stars, and the cost that this kind of attempt can take on a life.
BEHIND THE CURTAIN AT JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory)
Osiris takes place against the backdrop of one of the most cutting edge scientific fields: unmanned space exploration. We’ll take you behind the curtain of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and give a closer look at the people who make it possible, and the challenges they face.
To create a a true-to-life story we consulted with actual NASA scientists for insight into the work that goes into launching an unmanned probe to another planet. With their help, Osiris reveals the gripping challenges that must be overcome to successfully explore our solar system.

Their team combines decades of experience, a stack of awards, and numerous festival runs. Liz & Coastal are providing a wealth of production experience & resources. But we're relying on you to help us fund it.
DON'T MISS OUT
Not only will our contributors receive exclusive swag -- but more importantly, our backers will get the chance for an exclusive first-look at the finished film. For $50 or more, you will get a digital copy of the film. Contributions of $250 or more have the option of receiving an invite to a private theatrical screening.
For everyone else, they will have to wait until the film has finished it's film festival circuit ... 2019 or possibly later. So don't miss this opportunity!!!
SOME RIDICULOUS REWARDS
Osiris is a serious, compelling character drama. But Owen & Cameron are not serious or compelling people. So they are offering some pretty fun and ridiculous rewards.
'Osiris' is not just a pipe dream: the planning & pre-production is already well underway! We've begun casting, location scouting, storyboarding, and much more. Take a look at what we've accomplished so far, and what is still left to do.
Every dollar you pledge will go towards making the rest of this timeline come to life!
$35,000 ... THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY
It seems like a lot of money to raise -- because it is! But this is an ambitious film.
We want to make a movie that will make us proud. And that will make YOU proud, for helping it come to life.
Everyone on our team, and on our crew, is working at reduced rates or for free. But we still have a lot of hard costs over a 5-day shoot, including crew, props, locations and equipment rentals.
SO WHERE EXACTLY IS MY CONTRIBUTION GOING
Where is your contribution going? Why do we need your help? Why do we need so much of your help?
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge with this project is going to be coordinating such an ambitious film with limited resources and limited time. Now, there is no 'typical' budget for a short film, but our challenge is to stretch our budget and create a film that is beautiful, immersive, realistic, and compelling.
We are confident that with our phenomenal team of filmmaking professionals, we will be able to create a film with outstanding production value ... but more importantly, a film that is so engrossing that you never once think about the production value :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
