Have a question?
@Mark: Great question!
When a player announces who they will shoot, anyone (including the targeted player) can use any Equipment card at any time before the targeted player's cards are revealed. Once the cards have been revealed, no Equipment cards can be used that prevent the shot from taking place.
So the targeted player could indeed use an Equipment card to reveal more information, and another player could then use another Equipment card to prevent the shot from being fired, so long as the targeted player has not yet revealed their cards as a result of the shot.
Hope that helps, and happy investigating!
We played this for the first time last night, and we enjoyed the game quite a bit. I've got a question about equipment cards. The rules say that unless otherwise stated, an equipment card can be played at any time. On the other hand, the rules also say that when you're shot (non Agent/Kingpin) you turn over your cards and discard your equipment card.
When someone announces intent to shoot another player, and no one subsequently plays an equipment card to prevent the shot from being fired (e.g. Blanks, K-9 Unit, Taser), what, if any, equipment card options does the target have? For instance, can the target play Report Audit, or Wiretap/Metal Detector (which can immediately be followed up by Surveillance Camera) to provide more information to the remaining players?
Thanks in advance.
@Docknock: Thank you so much! What an honor! And thanks to everyone who believed in the game enough to back this campaign so we could make it happen! (Here's the link for anyone who wants to see it: http://youtu.be/AyV92EDuG5c)
@Docknock: Thanks - I wish I had the words to tell you how good it feels!
Congrats on your positive Tom Vasel review! You should feel good that he feels it is in the same class as Sherriff of Nottingham!
@Liow Wee Sheng: Thanks for sharing your reaction to Good Cop Bad Cop! To answer your question, if you are a wounded Agent or Kingpin who loses his/her Agent/Kingpin card, you are immediately eliminated and the wounded card is NOT transferred to the new Agent/Kingpin. Thematically, your dying words are to appoint a new Agent/Kingpin to carry on your legacy. :) Here is the official FAQ for these types of questions: http://overworldgames.com/rules/gcbc_faq_english.pdf
And since you asked about an expansion, and because I like you... I will let you in on a secret: A new expansion called Bombers and Traitors is coming to Kickstarter soon! We'll make an official announcement/press release with details and pictures in the next few weeks.
Played it with my relatives last week. Was fun, apart from the fact that whoever gets the guns first could literally shoot someone without guessing (lol).
That said, I'd like to clarify with regards to an equipment card that allows you to swap a player's integrity card.
So according to the guidebook:
"If you are the Agent or Kingpin, you are not eliminated the first time you are shot. Instead, you must take a Wounded card and draw one Equipment card.
Once you have a wound card, you are eliminated if you are shot a second time or you no longer hold the Agent or Kingpin card."
So in this instance, does swapping someone's integrity card instantly kills the current agent/kingpin holder? And does the wounded card gets transferred over to the new agent/kingpin holder?
Thanks for this awesome game! Hope there'll be new expansions soon!
@Richard: Thanks for the feedback! We'll look forward to hearing how your experience is with the variants you're considering.
I haven't had much fun with the game so far. Player elimination happens too quickly imo and more often than not, the equipment cards a lot of the time don't help when someone is aiming at you. I bought 2 decks and we plan on combining all of the equip cards and letting everyone draw and keep 2. We also plan on making it to where everyone can take 1 wound before dying. We're hoping that this improves the game for us as it seems to have a lot of potential!
If anyone wants the digital English rules with the updated artwork, you can find it here: www.overworldgames.com/rules/gcbc_rules_english.pdf
@Matt - Great ideas there! An expansion for Good Cop Bad Cop is a very real possibility.
Just a note: The card stands from The Game Crafter are too big to fit a single gun card so you will need to put the gun cards in very thick sleeves (or double/triple sleeves) in order for them to snugly fit those stands.
Cool I'll check that out.. Would love to see an expansion to this in the future, some new equipment cards or something would be great. Some ideas we've had would be a Bullet Proof Vest, to absorb one shot, able to use yourself or give to agent/kingpin. Tranquilliser dart, to neutralise a player for one round. First Aid Kit, to heal a wounded Agent/Kingpin. Just backed Salem also, looking forward to giving that a go.
@James and Matt: It's awesome to hear your stories! Those Equipment cards that can change someone's alignment definitely have a huge impact on the game. This is especially fun when the outcome seems predictable.
As for the card stands, we didn't get enough funding to include them, but you can order some from The Game Crafter. (https://www.thegamecrafter.com/parts/card-stand-black)
We highly recommend picking some up; it's really cool to see the guns standing up on the table when everyone's aiming at each other.
Been playing the print copy for the last week, and absolutely love it. Those equipment cards really make the game special. A few times we've had two or three guns pointed at an agent or kingpin, only to have the whole dynamic of the game shift. I got my hardcopy version today, but there weren't any stands for the gun cards, did that not eventuate?
Received my copy of the game about a week ago in England. Have managed to play it with some friends and loved it. The equipment cards can be a real game changer and ensure the game stays fun. I want to try the game out with more than four people next time.
So far favourite equipment card is the either the Planted Evidence or the Blackmail cards; they can change the fortunes for certain characters.
Keep up the good work.
I've received my copy in Australia. Looking forward to playing it soon!
Hey @Luis - The print & play went out to everyone on Wed, Aug 06, 2014 with the subject "Good Cop Bad Cop - Print & Play."
It's possible it went into your SPAM folder so if you want it resent, just click Contact Me on the side and send us a message with your email address.
Where is the link to get the PNP files?
I don't find it in my email.
Got my copy too! I'm in New Zealand, can't wait to play it
Woo hoo! What's everyone's favorite equipment card so far?
Got mine in Buffalo, NY a couple days ago. :)
Lol, of course we have "one of those guys". Doesn't every gaming group? Okay thanks again for explaining. We've just been giving people verbal word vomit assault when they do that but we did see the Taser card used yesterday and it felt like a small, sweet little victory haha. Really enjoying the quickness of each game and how quick it is to teach. I always explain it as a simplified version of Bang! with cops :)
Got mine in UK :) game night Saturday! ;)
I suppose they could if you have one of *those guys* in your gaming group. However, they had to reveal an integrity card in order to pick it up so grabbing a gun right away makes them a big target for investigating because now anyone who investigates them knows 2/3 of their integrity cards almost surely knows whether they are honest or crooked. Also, there are some equipment cards that will put an end to those shenanigans, like K-9 Unit or Taser.
Thanks so much for clarifying. Also when we played last night, I noticed that someone can technically just hold a gun every round without shooting to keep it from other players if they choose. Is that correct?
Good question, Lendsey! The player using Defibrillator chooses the two cards they are discarding from the deceased player's face-up integrity cards and all the cops around the table get to see which card is left. So everyone, including the formerly-deceased player, know whether that player is honest or crooked. In fact, you can just leave that single integrity card face-up.
I want to point out too that any player can look at his/her own Integrity cards during the game, they just cannot change their position. So if I forget which integrity cards I have, I can just take a peek any time as long as I return each one to its original position.
Just got my copy and had a question about the Defibrillator card. When the person chooses and discards the other player's cards do they get to see which cards they are discarding (as in choosing them since they were just revealed when the player died) or does the revived player get to shuffle them beforehand and the reviver chooses two randomly?
I'm assuming the player gets to see which two cards he is discarding however the revived player now does not know what team they are on.
We're so happy everyone is getting to play! We'd love to see pictures of you playing it by uploading them to the BGG page (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/153064/good-cop-bad-cop) or just by emailing them to email@example.com. Thanks for making this campaign so easy on us -- we wish you good luck in your investigations!
Got my copy today and gathered up my wife and oldest 2 kids (10 and 13) to play with me. My oldest daughter ended up being the Kingpin and all of us ending up figuring it out from investigating her, so it was a fairly quick game. My kids wanted to play again, but my wife requested we play again when she was a little better rested. Thanks for the game!
Will do. Thanks!
It sounds like you're missing it. The non-Kickstarter copies do not have Deliriant, but the KS copies do. You can identify the KS copies by the big, green "K" on the top and bottom. I wonder if we accidentally sent you a non-KS copy. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get it sorted out.
I do have one question, though. I don't see the Deliriant Facebook stretch goal card in the box. Did it change to another card & I misunderstood? Or am I missing it?
Just got my copy, & it looks great. Thanks for a great campaign.
Received my copy of good cop bad cop. Much happiness abounds.
Got my copy of Good Cop Bad Cop today! Cards are nice quality and art looks great. Now I just need to call up a few buddies and play some games.
Most definitely. We will send out a formal update within the next couple of days. Thanks Joel!
I don't check comments as I have about 50 outstanding projects. It's tough enough reading through 4 or 5 updates everyday across all of them... So comments are rare unless I see nothing formal for a long period. I'll hope to see a formal status update ASAP to make sure we are still on track and timeline is more definitive now.
Can we get a formal update on progress and shipping time table? It's been a month since an updates gone out.
It might, but they will have purchased it from us indirectly anyway and we want to support retailers like MM any way we can because they have such a large audience. They are helping to get Good Cop Bad Cop onto more tables so more power to 'em.
It looks like Miniatures Market is selling GCBC for $9.99, is that going to hurt your direct sales?
Good question. You can actually pre-order right now on overworldgames.com if you are in the U.S. and copies will ship out right after we ship out copies for all of ya'll.
If you are outside of the U.S., it's not quite as easy, but send us a message on Kickstarter or email us at email@example.com and we'll explain how you can get a copy.
When you start getting closer to the ship date, please let us know how we can order additional copies of Good Cop Bad Cop.
I want to get multiple additional copies for friends who missed the Kickstarter.
Last night was pretty fun haha. Stompy stomp goodness until 1 am watching the fantastic old Godzilla films and playing quick games of good cop bad cop during film breaks. Stomp stomp stomp! My loving girlfriend knows me so well, she produced a sharpie for us AND a deck of cards so we could make up a PnP set. (I do not recommend making a PnP set from memory btw we had fun anyway, but it wasn't right at all.)
Clayton - Very cool of you to add original art to the PnP download. Much appreciated, I think the fellas will enjoy a crayonless Good Cop Bad Cop experience with some actual game art involved instead of just a word on a card. So, I'll probably print onto a sticker or decal sheet and stick them to some magic cards or something. Alright, alright you got me. I have no idea how to print on sticker stuff. . .but the girl does haha. Scrapbook skills for the win. :)
Thanks so much Alan! It would be an honor to have Good Cop Bad Cop played alongside Two Rooms and a Boom (and is an honor to hear it's already happening with the Print and Play); we're glad to hear you're already enjoying it.
The Print and Play was very important to us, because we knew from experience that people would have a great time with Good Cop Bad Cop once they tried it. We can't wait to get you the print version!
Hey, I wanted you dudes to know that I got to play Good Cop Bad Cop with my regular group of gamer friends. We LOVE IT! I can't wait to get the print version and I would be honored to play this along side Two Rooms and a Boom at conventions.
WOO HOO! Thanks Jamey! And thank you SO MUCH to everyone else on the Backers list!
Now it's time to get to work finishing the art, manufacturing, and getting this out to everyone as fast as we can. Of course we'll keep everyone updated on the progress along the way.
Congratulations, guys! I look forward to playing the game.
@Fes Thanks for all your encouragement, suggestions, and light-hearted comments to keep us going!
@Todd You are correct that the $3 level is only for a limited, black & white version of the PnP.
On a related note, all backers who back at a level that receives a hard copy of the game will get a full version of the PnP after the campaign ends while they wait for it to be manufactured and shipped.
With 98 minutes to go, I think I just realized something. I pledged $3 for the "limited Print and Play" edition. I was thinking that would be a PnP version of the final artwork, but it just hit me that the "limited Print and Play" is the black & white version with limited equipment cards. I guess I either need to cancel that pledge or go all in, right?
