This project has completed successfully! The backer list shows all of the people who helped make this happen. The two of us want to say thank you SO MUCH to every one of you.
If you wanted a copy but you didn't get a chance to join us in the campaign, you will be able to find it at your friendly local game store or at overworldgames.com! If you have any other questions use the Contact Me button to send us a message.
Corruption has infiltrated your agency. The Kingpin must be taken down before the crooked cops take out the Agent. You won't be able to do it alone, but there's no knowing who's honest and who's crooked. Do some investigating to discover who's who, but act fast; there aren't enough guns for everyone!
Good Cop Bad Cop is a 54-card hidden identity, deduction, and bluffing game in which each player receives multiple cards that together determine their role. Players attempt to figure out who is on their team and who is against them so they can take out their opposition, but since their opponents will be looking to do the same thing, they often must act quickly to make critical decisions with limited information.
Good Cop Bad Cop focuses heavily on player interaction. The game's mechanics set the stage for distrust, confusion, and manipulation that results in uproarious laughter and outrageous accusations. It's this extremely rich player interaction that allows Good Cop Bad Cop to use a player elimination mechanic while keeping those who get knocked out involved in the conversation and invested in the game's outcome.
This game is frequently compared to some of the other spectacular hidden identity games on the market, but many people dislike that they often require lying to fellow players (usually friends or family) in order to be successful. Well, good news! Lying is not required in Good Cop Bad Cop! But if that's your thing, you can definitely employ those tactics and make them work to your advantage. We have been overjoyed to see so many people who "don't like hidden identity games" end up LOVING this one. This is truly a horse of a different color.
To learn more about the game, check out the complete rules and/or check out our How to Play video immediately below where Brian shows you how it's done.
Take a look below at what some independent reviewers thought about Good Cop Bad Cop!
"Good Cop Bad Cop is one of my favorite games, period. Not just Kickstarter games, not just party games. I love this game. Go back it." - Forrest Bower of Bower's Game Corner
"It plays quickly so you can play this a few times and when we were playing I had a lot of moments when we were laughing and joking... I think it's a solid game worth backing and picking up." - Jimmy Hudson of Board Game Closet
We have always loved hidden identity games. These types of games create an experience that has more to do with unique player interactions than a set of rules or strategies. We wanted to create a suspenseful game in which players would be grabbing for guns, threatening each other, and negotiating their way out of dangerous situations.
We also have to give some inspiration credit to the Dice Hate Me 54 Card Challenge because the concept was created with the intention of submitting it for this contest. After we saw how much people were loving Good Cop Bad Cop, we became attached and decided to self-publish. But... you certainly have our permission to give Chris a hug for us if you see him!
After tons of playtesting, we were able to create simple rules that deliver an experience full of distrust and uncertainty. We had so much fun with the game that we introduced it to as many friends, family, and strangers as we could. Now we're ready to share it with you!
Here's what you can expect to get with your copy of Good Cop Bad Cop.
24 Integrity Cards
16 Equipment Cards
Good Cop Bad Cop includes 16 Equipment cards.
4 Gun Cards
2 Wounded Cards & 1 Lead Investigator Card
It's well on its way!
We're excited to be working with Dwayne Biddix on the art for Good Cop Bad Cop.
You can follow the artwork progress on our Updates page, which includes sketches and other artwork as it is completed. Until then, here's a look at what you might be able to expect for the Honest and Crooked Integrity cards.
We have six reward levels to choose from. If you pledge at the OFFICER level or higher, you will also receive every stretch goal that is reached throughout the campaign with free US shipping.
Please refer to the reward information on the right hand side of the top of the page for additional details regarding delivery dates, international shipping, and quantity limits for any of the reward levels.
Since the game will now include new artwork for all of the card backs, the Lead Investigator reward will now put your face on the back of the Lead Investigator card, rather than a silhouette!
Now that we've funded, we have an exciting opportunity to get Good Cop Bad Cop in the hands of even more gamers. As production quantity increases, the cost to produce each unit decreases. We intend to take full advantage of these economies of scale to pass these savings onto backers in the form of stretch goals.
Every backer at the OFFICER reward level or higher will receive every stretch goal. There will be no need to increase your pledge or select a la carte items. Everyone who gets a copy of the game will also receive every stretch goal.
For more information on our artwork stretch goals including artwork progress and sketches, check out our Updates page!
Every copy of Good Cop Bad Cop will now be printed on casino-grade linen cards!
The Good Cop Bad Cop artwork will be upgraded to include character artwork on the Integrity cards. This will include four characters in total: Agent, Kingpin, Honest, and Crooked.
When we reach $4,800 in funding, the Gun card artwork will be upgraded to make those things even more fun to snatch up and start waving around at your friends.
When we get to $5,000 in funding, we will upgrade the art on the backs of all of the cards - Integrity, Equipment, Wounded, and Lead Investigator.
At $5,500, we'll get some awesome, complete artwork to cover the front of the box so it looks all nice and pretty on your shelf - and on your table!
At $9,000,we'll get new artwork for the Equipment cards. This is the biggest art expense, since there will be 17 or 18 unique Equipment cards in the game.
At $10,500, we will include a velvet carrying bag with every copy of Good Cop Bad Cop for easy and stylish transport! Each bag will also come with card stands for the Lead Investigator and Gun cards, which makes the guns a blast to aim!
However - we want to give back to our backers as much as possible and understand that the Equipment stretch goal may be difficult to achieve. As such, if we end with $7,500 or more in funding, but do not reach the $9,000 required to do the Equipment art, we'll throw in the card stands and bags for everyone so we can utilize those additional funds that won't be able to be used for Equipment artwork.
We realize people have different preferences regarding Kickstarter-exclusive content. This is why we decided that we will offer two Kickstarter-exclusive equipment cards with every copy of Good Cop Bad Cop that we send to our Kickstarter backers. Each card will be added when the corresponding social media goal is met.
When these goals are met, we will also offer these cards to backers of future campaigns, but Kickstarter will always be the only place we offer these cards. This allows us to make the cards available again in the future for people who missed out, while also keeping them exclusive to our Kickstarter backers.
Risks and challenges
There are always risks associated with publishing tabletop games, but we have spent the last few months doing everything we possibly can to minimize those risks. Here are some examples:
- We are working with an extremely experienced manufacturer who has been very helpful in providing us with samples to ensure the end product meets our quality requirements.
- We have found the cheapest inbound and outbound shipping rates for getting these from the manufacturer to our warehouse and then out to backers all over the world. We know this is the most common pitfall of these types of campaigns so we planned a very scalable solution at a low price.
- We have created extensive scenarios for different numbers of backers and stretch goal combinations to ensure our reward levels are affordable but also will provide enough funding to finance them.
Although we have gone to great lengths to plan out our timelines, we will be extremely transparent if anything goes awry and alert backers of changes that will affect them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
