Over the Bridge Arts is an arts nonprofit founded in 2016 in Oak Cliff, Texas. We want to feed the artist in everyone!

Our goal is to provide performances and arts education for the community free of charge, with an emphasis on new and emerging artists. The Artspot concept, an unconventional spot where art happens, brings the arts directly in contact with people who may not otherwise have that opportunity.

Our first event in 2017, the Summer Solstice Artspot, showcased the performing and visual arts in public spaces in and around Sylvan 30 in Dallas, Texas. Since the solstice is the longest day of the year, we planned a full day that began with yoga at 9 a.m. and concluded with a community drumming circle on the lawn at 9 p.m. A lot of creativity happened in between: an art exhibit, a pottery class, a bluegrass group, a jazz duet, a world folk fusion performance, and a dance-off between a solo flamenco dancer and a tap dancer!

Our goal is to expand this concept on June 23, 2018 by featuring even more local artists, offering more hands-on activities for audience members - including children - and expanding our audience through targeted marketing efforts.

All of this takes money.

It's people like you that will help Over the Bridge Arts succeed in creating new opportunities for both artists and audiences. We need to show community support in order to attract funders.

Won't you join us and feed your hunger for creativity?

Risks and challenges

There are two main challenges for the arts - space and funding. We have addressed the space issue by partnering with Sylvan 30 for the Artspot for the second year in a row. Their management is enthusiastic about hosting our project in their space, the location offers free parking, and it is ADA accessible.
For funding, we have written a grant proposal to the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs. We are actively seeking business sponsors. Last year's sponsors were Sync Yoga, Whisk, TacoDeli and Houndstooth. We are also planning a fundraising event for the spring. With individual donations from the community, we can show businesses and the city that this type of outreach is needed and appreciated.
