Outpost is an annual, non-profit print publication on innovative art, design and community action from cities that have been traditionally underexposed beyond their local contexts. Last year, we brought you our inaugural issue on Pittsburgh, PA- help us now to bring you our Baltimore edition in Fall 2012!
Part book, part guide and part lifestyle journal, each beautifully produced and visually engaging Outpost is a journey into the creative heart of a place. The Baltimore edition consists of 64 gorgeous full color pages and comes packaged with a limited edition screen print and a cut-and-fold insert by Baltimore-based artists Shaun Flynn and Gary Kachadourian, respectively.
The issue will inspire you with artist profiles, introduce you to the inhabitants of a magical house called Tarantula Hill, deep dive into arts-based community organizations such as Knitting Behind Bars, take you on a tour of Baltimore's signature architecture via artists' homes, delve into the complexities of an urban redesign project in East Baltimore, relive the collaborative installation by the Outpost team and Maryland College of Art students on the iconic "Natty Boh" tower, give you musician Dan Deacon's take on classic Baltimore icons and of course include our guide to art spaces in the city.
Outpost is dedicated to strengthening ties between communities and spreading new ideas about how creative culture can change the world. Help support us in our mission and create the Baltimore edition- Outpost is a 501(c)(3) organization so all donations in excess of the value of the goods received are fully tax-deductible!
