Pledge's Explained in Detail:
If you don't require a seal, or if you're an existing customer you just need the new clear cover to replace your blue cover. It's backwards compatible and works with all the optics, viewfinders, straps, etc. You can simply back the clear cover.
The $225 Basic/Entry kit is the bare essentials for a complete kit, using a clear cover with with no glass opening on the back. No glass on the back means you can still see but your sighting/view is not as precise. You can use the LCD viewfinder mode, but your eyecup viewfinder sighting is restricted. This kit only includes the clear cover, regular front optical glass for the lens, and the neck strap. We don't have a final image of that cover or kit yet, but you'd be navigating the back of the camera the same way you see in the image below.
$375 clear Outex Kit; includes everything you need for a waterproof seal and professional results. It includes the clear cover with back glass opening, 1 flat port optical lens for the front, your choice of viewfinder glass and adaptors for the back of the camera, and both the neck and wrist straps with the strap holder.
$400 Dome lens is for the those seeking the ultimate in underwater photography optics. It includes the Dome of your choice, and the necessary brackets and adaptors to fit 1 lens.
As with all Outex products, modularity also applies to the optics and viewfinders. So for example if you want the Dome to support multiple lenses, you don't need 2 different domes. The same dome works on all. You just purchase additional brackets or adaptors to fit any/all of your lenses for a fraction of the cost.
Outex was created out of necessity by photo & film lovers who wanted a lightweight, travel-friendly, affordable, and modular water housing for their cameras to take anywhere, anytime. Outex's patented designed products are already used by amateurs, enthusiasts and award-winning professionals around the world, including the Associated Press, National Geographic, Red Bull, BBC, Vogue, Outdoor Magazine, and many more, and in 2013 we successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign for an LCD Viewfinder, which we delivered on time as promised. I encourage you to explore our website www.Outex.com, or our previous Kickstarter campaign.
This Clear Outex housing in this project not only maintains the existing product benefits:
- Lightweight, compact, malleable design for complete tactile control
- Affordable to purchase and to own over time
- Modular design that works with tripods, lighting, domes, tethering, etc
It introduced substantive new advantages:
- Clear, detailed visibility of all the functions you can control for your camera and lens, or anything inside the housing.
- Improved material composition for easier installation and removal when needed. Noticeable increased elasticity and malleability.
- Improved longevity of the covers due to reformulated compound design and manufacturing process that reduces oxidization and deterioration.
These benefits make Outex the go-to housing for any environment, because it delivers the professional results of much more expensive housings, with the added benefits of an affordable, travel friendly, upgradeable solution.
The project funds our most popular Cover 110 size, which is compatible with virtually any camera in the market, including mirrorless Sonys, Fujis, Leicas, etc, all the way to popular professional DSLR cameras by Canon and Nikon. The stretch goals accelerate development and delivery of additional optimized covers that are customized for small, compact, mirrorless cameras (Cover 110), and large-boy professional DSLRs such as the family 1D/Canon or D5/Nikon. Dimensions for all of our covers are already available on our website www.Outex.com.
The Clear Outex covers are backwards compatible, so they appeal to both existing and new potential customers. We are offering rewards that appeal to both.
Developing the Clear Outex cover was not easy, nor cheap. But we think it's worth it as it will increase the market appeal and usability to a broader market of photographers and cinematographers. The new composition even involved some level of nuclear engineering to deliver the improved characteristics that maintain our existing benefits while adding the new advantages. And it's not just the product composition. We're investing in a new set of tools and manufacturing process that will increase consistency and reliability with the product. We believe the increased volume potential will help us offset the higher overall costs of delivery, and we're setting a Kickstarter price of $99 that is likely to be less than actual pricing down the road. Your help makes a difference. Lock in your pre-order now, be first to have it, and help us exceed our targeted and stretch campaign goals.

Risks and challenges
There are many new processes and materials we're developing in this project, and that is a risk. But we're working within established relationships and environments. As an ongoing concern, we have historical experience not only with our patented designs, but also in procurement and manufacturing in this space. We feel confident in our ability to deliver the Clear Outex housing, but need the additional funding to ensure it's done in a timely fashion while simultaneously pursuing additional developments.
We have a positive Kickstarter track record as well, having delivered on time as promised to our worldwide customers just a few years ago.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
