Outcast dialogs

Outcast is one of the very rare games to feature spoken dialogs for ALL characters in the game. Yes you read that right, you can talk to EVERY npc in the game and they will greet you with an appropriate response. Not only that, but Outcast has a very complex narrative system based around the actions of the player. These actions can be represented by a reputation system that has three levels:

Depending on the actions of the player the dialog will branch and reflect your reputation among NPCs. That means we have recorded hours and hours of possible dialog lines, and all that in three languages: English, German and French. More languages are supported via subtitles: Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese (Brasil).

Shamazaar prototype

Here’s a video of our prototype running Shamazaar (the world of temples) with our new dataset.

 Bear in mind this is very early and a lot of stuff are yet to be implemented.A lot of graphics optimisations need to be done and we expect to greatly enhance quality, details, and draw distance during production, while keeping the 1080p @ 60 fps framerate.

      Since this update is here to gather feedbacks, here are mine:
      Even knowing this is an early draft, I have to admit that it's slightly underwhelming.
      I was expecting the design to evolve a bit more from the original. As much as it made sens for the original game (due to technical limitations) to have fairly simple shapes and design for the different elements of the environment, it begs for more sophistication and a reacher color palette when it comes to upgrade it for New Gen consoles.
      I can see the tremendous work already produced and I appreciate that but some choices are, to me, questionable. Everything looks a little too simple.
      I have a lot of specific notes and would be happy to share them with you if you're willing to take them but it might take too long to expose them all here.

      Looks beautiful! One question though:
      Do you plan to increase the draw distance? I was hoping the switch to HD would improve the look in that way, too. But maybe its just because things aren't finished enough to show more yet. ^^

      Agree with Werner, the guy doing the talking isn't the best choice to sell it to other people. Could maybe do with some footage of the combat in the game.

      Loving the moons though.

      Thanks Benjamin Hüll and Nicolas ASSIE, I didn't find this on Steam either. Didn't think to look under "concepts".

      Great update btw, interesting to see the prototype and all!

      I think i could get used to the little moon's rotation speed. Who's to say how fast a moon rotates anyway, I'm sure there are millions of moons in the Milky way alone that rotates fast (Not that I know, it just seems possible).

      As a suggestion/ thought about the twin-moon visuals. A plausible explanation (?) could be that the little moon is locked in orbit between Adelpha and the big moon (I'm sure there is a Lagrange point between them in which it could be placed by some cosmic coincidence. Even if It's a bit to the side :P)

      OR, their orbit around Adelpha could be independent, and some huge tidal forces be introduced when they are in the same direction on the sky (from Adelpha).. of course that would divert from the original, so maybe not.

      absolutely superb. I was not expecting this quality level. View distance seems still low in this video. I hope we can see farther than in original Outcast :)
      (I know it is still early development)

      Thanks for the update. It looks great so far, but I couldn't watch the video until the end, because the slow voice almost put me to sleep :) Another thing: the two moons look pretty impressive. Yeah, they are very close to each other, but I find the speed at which they're rotating even more irritating. That's a little too much artistical freedom for my taste, although it looks gorgeous. Also, you should consider to put the Kickstarter campaign video at first place on the Greenlight page. I think it's more convincing, marketing-wise. As always, just my fifty cents ;) Keep up the great work.

      It looks great but I have one question about the moons: How do they keep that close to each other without colliding? You would think that the smaller one would crash into the bigger moon because of the gravity from the bigger one. Also if such a big moon would be that close to Adelpha, wouldn't there be tidal waves and earthquakes all the time on Adelpha?

      Please keep the graphics this way, don't make them overly realistic.
      Perhaps a mood-video (cutter riding through shamazaar on a twon ha+music+ some talans running around) would give a very good impression of the game.
