Who wants to talk about state finances!?!? No one, that's who.
But Alaska is hemorrhaging savings at a rate of $10 million a day. Failing to make major reforms will have serious economic consequences, but legislators won’t act without the support the public. Getting more folks interested in this conversation is going to require something different.
Fortunately, different is what we do.
With your support, we'll help tell the story of Alaska's financial woes in new and interesting ways, geared toward a younger generation and online engagement. We'll make more saucy videos to help explain the situation, and make copies of the Budget Balancing Game, which we'll bring to communities throughout the state.
The problem with all of this is that it costs money. Each video costs at least $7000, and each copy of the Game about $1,500. With $10,000, we can make at least one of each, and cover some travel costs.
But these numbers are bare bones.
With more money (above our $10,000 goal), we'll make more and better videos, we'll get the Game in front of more Alaskans, and we'll experiment with other innovative outreach tactics.
We've got an all-star crew, rich with ideas and energy. So if you dig what we've got going on, help put this team to work! And if you can't afford to support us financially, we'll settle for some good old fashioned sharing.

Risks and challenges
We have just a few short months to affect public opinion and encourage the legislature to implement a sustainable fiscal plan. It’s a tall order, we get it. That’s why we’re taking big creative risks to bring this conversation some new energy.
The biggest risk in this project is that we fail to engage a broader audience.
As young Alaskans, we know what resonates with us. More importantly though, we’re professionals. Our members include fiscal policy experts, communications and political consultants. We understand this issue better than most and know how to reach our peers.
