Naturally, with it not being the standard over the ear headphone, the quality will not be a direct comparison. Like with regular headphones, if you crank up the volume really high, then there will be some sound leakage, however we have designed it such that this is far lower than you might expect at very high volumes. It has been a key element which we want to ensure meets your expectations, as well as our professional integrity. This has been both in the application of the technology, and naturally the fit and feel of the Batband itself. We use cold form spring steel outer shell that is both durable & flexible, and premium silicon on the inside, which almost feels like one of those form fitting beds in the way it grips.
In regards to calling, our microphone is very good. I’ve been using one of the early models for calls every day and it has worked exceptionally well, and that has been before obviously the final upgraded version.

Ok early July, so realistically most shipped more early to mid July, then 3-4 weeks shipping means I'll probably get it sometime around mid to late August, that's alright, at least it's finally coming :)
How's the sound quality? How about sound leak? I've tried one bone conduction piece before and sound leaks so bad. Hope this is better. Still, am excited to receive mine.
Since the Batband is supposed to be delivered soon I took the time to check out previous bone conduction kickstarters and their results, here's what I gathered:
Starting from first to last Buhel SOUNDglasses are first in line. They have had several problems with fulfilling 'special' orders which leaves about 15-30% of their backers either without glasses or with shipments being straight up incorrect with people receiving pairs of lenses for one of the eyes and not the other and even more problems if you have a prescription. The quality of the glasses from what I read seems really cheap for their price of 130-170$. The bone conduction isn't impressive which leaves them really best used as normal sunglasses. There were more people asking for refunds than there were people that had anything nice to say about the glasses.
Zungle: I hear the same story from almost everybody commenting on this project. The glasses are too tight and they still don't conduct sound as described. It's like 'cheap pairs of speakers put on ill-fitting glasses'. The sound is too low (even on max) to be useful and the talking feature is a joke (from what I gathered). They apparently sound better when worn on the forehead with the legs slightly in front of your ears. This might be a result of just bad sizing but apparently they also leak a LOT (everybody says so and there are several videos of it). Haven't read much about battery life which I was concerned about when I saw them. They have a charging case but it might not matter since people don't want to wear them for more than 20 minutes before it hurts too much.
Vue: Delays here as well. Not an entire year, but they have pushed it from July to October at the earliest. They have some videos of people testing them but nothing too convincing, you can check them out for yourselves. These also have charging cases. Since they haven't shipped yet it's difficult to say if they will perform better than its glasses-competitors, they don't seem to have very different technology but they're certainly more expensive with the early-bird price being more than I paid for the standard edition of Batband and their standard prices ranging from 180$ up to 260$. They also advertise calling which I'm interested in knowing how it pans out.
In conclusion. My expectations for Batband have dropped somewhat after seeing the failure of the first two bone conducting glasses. I'm keeping my hopes up, especially after all the production delays where quality was their main focus. These have been in the works for much longer than any competitor which gives me confidence. Also they are different in many ways and probably fit better as a result. As I was writing this their new update came out which makes me even more excited so I'll hold out for another couple months, but they better not arrive and be sent back because I wasn't home as they came here...
I can't find the survey even after following the steps outlined in the update! Anyone else facing the same issue? @studiobanana can i drop you an email with the updated delivery address?
On the plus side, I'm shocked that there aren't any similar products on the market two years after this project was funded. Bone conduction headphones are around, but aren't really breaking out like I thought they would when the Batband was first introduced. And this is still one of the only models not aimed specifically at athletics and sports.
Looking forward to receiving mine. I'm hoping for a quick update this week on shipping confirmations.

So I take it that when you say you'll be sending out a delivery notification this week, you are using the same time frame as getting these things ready and that really means sometime in the next 6-8 months. Also, how about something more than a bimonthly update. If you are truly on your last sprint as your last update stated, how about weekly to semi-monthly updates.
May 26th 2017, two years later. Mass production complete or is it more like missed production? Waiting for an update in what is supposedly a very critical time. Please inform us of the disappointment timely instead of waiting a month. Thanks
Yeah. As said before, many of us already have different bone conduction headphones. I love my AfterShokz. They were cheaper, the can be used with bike or ski helmet and I already have them nearly a year... And I don't really believe, this thing will deliver any really better experience. Just late, not exciting anymore... Simply another product, only with late delivery.
@Christopher, I do agree with you that what we have backed, is a more superior product.
I am as eager as you are, to get my hands on the Batband.
I am just trying to make a point here that, the Batband may have missed the opportunity to provide the market with the element of surprise, due to the long product development cycle.
The late comers have have shorten their time to market for such a product.

Having said that, we completely understand the frustration in the waiting, as we have felt that frustration as well.
