We're back and better than ever!
This is where it all started. One year ago you supported our vision to make the world’s thinnest, warmest jacket — a jacket insulated with NASA spacesuit technology. The Kickstarter community and our early adopters believed in us before anyone else even knew we existed. You blew us away with your support and kicked off a worldwide movement!
Now we're back. And this time, we mean business.
The Orion Series can take you from the top of a mountain, back home, and everywhere in between.
Traditional outerwear is cumbersome and boring! You have to wear big, bulky clothes and plenty of layers just to stay warm.
What if you could wear thin gear with no layers and be perfectly warm whether you were on top of a mountain or relaxing with your friends? Using the same insulation NASA used in their space suits and space shuttles, OROS brings you its line of thin, warm performance apparel. No layers. No compromises.
Aerogel, in geek terminology, is the lowest thermal conductive solid on the planet. Put simply, that means aerogel is the best insulator in existence!
Today, aerogel is used by NASA as insulation in their space suits. It can trap space dust on space shuttles, de-ice aircrafts, and insulate some of the coldest oil pipelines in the world. Aerogel is also very light. In fact, it would take 150 brick-sized pieces of aerogel to weigh as much as a single gallon of water! So what does all this mean? When you invest in OROS performance apparel, you get a thin and warm garment that even the astronauts would be proud of.
We use a proprietary formulation of aerogel called Solarcore. It is the first aerogel suited for apparel with its incredible flexibility, hydrophobicity, durability, sound absorbency, and breathability all while maintaining the incredible insulation that aerogels are known for.

Michael, Rithvik, and Max (left to right) are lifelong friends who share passions for two things: Science & Adventure. By uniting the two, they believe they can change the way people think about outerwear and performance wear.
WHY WE MAKE OUTERWEAR:
Science gets a bad rap. Many believe science can't be sexy. Well, OROS thinks otherwise. We appreciate the flowing locks of Albert Einstein and find talks on epigenetics to be stimulating. We believe in challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Using the same technology applied by the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) as insulation in their space suits, we made outerwear slimmer, warmer and sexier. Besides, it's the 21st century. Aren't we beyond wrapping ourselves in animal furs and goose feathers?
OROS means mountain in Greek. But more than the gargantuan mass of land a rock formed by the clash of Earth's tectonic plates, OROS represents the challenge - and the accomplishment. The journey and the conquest. And the ultimate joy in achievement.

Our team consists of experts in industries ranging from fashion and design to apparel and aerogel engineering.
We are all here to make sure the Orion series lives up to its name and you get your gear on time.
Here is our plan to achieve that:
February/March: Make tons of Kickstarter buddies, finalize the engineering and prototyping iterations, quality assurance, product validation
April-July: Procurement of raw materials and components, shipping of aerogel to apparel manufacturer, begin manufacturing
July-September: Conclude manufacturing, shipping of finalized product to distributor
October: Delivery of jackets to Kickstarter friends and fulfillment of rewards!
Risks and challenges
No one likes to see a great opportunity wasted. The OROS team has worked extremely hard to get the Orion Series ready for Kickstarter and full-scale production, but here are the risks:
MANUFACTURING: Our Solarcore™ aerogel and apparel manufacturers are working with large lead times and small manufacturing periods. No matter how much expertise and experience you have, this creates a stressful work environment. To minimize delays on the manufacturing end, we've worked out lead times and manufacturing periods between the aerogel and apparel manufacturers to make for a smooth transition of products, leaving a little extra time just in case.
PRODUCT ADJUSTMENTS: As the Orion series gets geared up for production, some minor adjustments may be made to best meet your needs. Prototypes will be put through rigorous durability and breathability tests to find what best benefits you. These tests may result in slight modifications of product design.
FULFILLMENT: Sometimes things get a little crazy: a supplier misses a deadline, a machine breaks down, or a shipment gets lost. Those things could cause a delay in delivery. To minimize such setbacks, we will be working with suppliers and manufacturers who have a history of delivering excellent products in large quantities.
No doubt there will be some bumps along the road, but any obstacles will be tackled by combining our knowledge of the product with the suppliers' and manufacturers' experience to bring you, the OROS customer, the most awesome performance outerwear you've ever seen.
Any pledge amount brings us one step closer to our goal. Become a part of the OROS team by backing our project or by helping us spread the word by sharing our page.
It's time to kickstart your next adventure!
Always Onward. Forever Upward.
