Founded in 2016 in Doha, Qatar. Orion’s Reverie is an international studio of directors, designers, artists, animators, writers, and producers that creates video games, film, television, online entertainment and, although not a priority, commercials. As a creative team we go out of our way to get under the skin of every project. We are passionate about our craft, and we challenge ourselves to leave a lasting impression with every piece of work. We’re here to introduce one of our projects to everyone: Arzu Venture, a 2D platformer.
Arzu Venture is a 2D kemono platform game with a story that combines fantasy and science fiction. The game is set in the fictional world of Celestia, a world being maintained by twelve Stellar Guardians who are currently in deep slumber. Albeit asleep, their powers remain active in their respective shrines, making it possible for them to maintain the stability of their world. One day, the Elder of Sidus Village felt a great disturbance in the twelve Stellar Shrines, which he thought was a sign of a grave danger befalling Celestia.
You play as Osku and Razi, two childhood rivals tasked to investigate what’s causing the disturbance in the twelve shrines. They set out an adventure of rivalry, not knowing that they were about to face a force that they cannot defeat alone.
Osku is the village Elder’s hot-headed grandson. Having the blood of a magus family, he also has great potential as a magus. However, in a young age, he became interested in weapons and followed the path of modern weaponry instead. Thankfully, his parents and the Elder respected his preferences and decision to master a different field. The Elder has not given up on Osku studying magic though, always asking Osku if he’s thinking of starting the life of a magus.
Osku has grown to be very proficient in using and even modifying various weapons to suit his fighting style. He boasts that weapons wouldn’t require chanting long spells to deal great damage to an opponent. For example, firing a strong fireball from a gun would only need 2 seconds of charging while it may take 10 – 20 seconds of chanting for traditional magic and the chanting speed would still depend on the caster’s magical ability. He can be usually seen fighting with Razi but he actually cares about him a lot as a friend.
Razi is the village Elder’s best student in traditional magic. He’s always praised as a genius despite not belonging in a magus family. Razi lost his parents when he was young and he was adopted by the Elder when he was spotted boiling a small forest pond by only staring at it, showing great potential as a magus. He can be usually seen fighting with Osku but he actually cares about him a lot as a friend as well.
Razi, despite being conceited, has great respect towards the Elder who raised him and taught him how to be a skilled magus. He also sees the Elder as his own grandfather.
Celestia is the fictional world in Arzu Venture. The locations are all very unique with a combination of fantasy and sci-fi elements. We make sure that every scenery is memorable and breathtaking. There will be forests, ruins, dungeons, and other locations that have different climates. Towns are also different from each other as some people prefer the traditional ways of living (e.g. using magic for everyday tasks) while some prefer advanced technology which is evident with each town's design.
Arzu Venture's enemy monsters were carefully designed to fit the dreamlike world of Celestia. The normal enemy monsters were intentionally designed to be simple and cute with vibrant color schemes while the boss monsters were given more details and were made to be bigger to give off a feeling of intimidation and to separate them from the normal monsters.
Like with most platform games, Arzu Venture involves guiding a player character to jump between suspended platforms and/or over obstacles to navigate the environment. The player controls the jumps to avoid letting the player character fall to their death or miss necessary jumps.
Before starting, the player can choose to play as Osku or Razi. The two characters have different play styles - Osku is a weapon user while Razi mainly uses magic. Each stage will have a boss battle that the player will have to defeat to make progress in the story. 2-player mode will also be available. Each stage will have side quests and locations that will only be accessible if two players cooperate and help each other as Osku and Razi.
There's an existing demo stage and a game play video of it. It currently has the basic functions like walk, run, jump, and attack.
More functions will be added in the final game. Two or more attack methods for both characters, and a 2-player system.
The first attack is what we call the “catch and throw” function. That function involves: Catching a monster, than the player can throw out the caught monster to inflict damage to other monsters. The player can also jump on the caught monster mid-air to reach high platforms.
The second attack function that we want to add is the “special attack”. There are a lot of items the players can collect throughout the game. One type of item enables the use of powerful special attacks.
The game can be beaten in single player, but we also want to add a 2-player system. 2 players can work together to suppress the enemies and reach optional areas that can only be accessed with 2 players cooperating. If we gather enough funds to hire one more server programmer, we can include online functionalities in the 2-player mode.
What makes Arzu Venture special?
- Arzu's fantasy-inspired art style is hand painted. We aim to make the players will feel like they are reading picture books while playing the game.
- An engaging story about friendship, rivalry, and heroism centered in the fictional world of Celestia where advanced technology and traditional magic co-exist. In the story, players can collect story-related items in checkpoints to unlock a series of paintings as rewards. This way, players can enjoy the deepest parts of the story, which is rarely provided in action games nowadays.
- The two playable characters have very distinct play styles that are both needed for 2-player mode which will really give the players a real sense of cooperation.
- Animated cut scenes.
- An interactive platformer gameplay that would also require puzzle-solving skills.
- Cute and likable kemono characters designed by well-known artists in the internet. And that includes that monsters!

In addition, it would allow Orion’s Reverie to focus on the core values of this game’s development: Interactivity and fun. Without you, we cannot expand the world of Arzu Venture.
With more funding, we can open possibilities to a longer story with more character development, a bigger world and overall lore, better graphics, more game mechanics, and a larger selection of soundtracks.

We will need 1.2 years to develop Arzu Venture. After a half year, we can provide a demo. Then in the last few months of development, we will have 1 - 2 months of beta testing debugging before finalizing the game.

Risks and challenges
Developing a game costs a LARGE amount of funding, and that's the toughest part. Marketing also comes in the scene, but that can also be solved with enough funding. We are now preparing early social media advertisement to help with the marketing plan and get more exposure. We believe that a good game by itself can shine.
Delays may also be a problem, because there will always be unexpected bugs. However, we have a good game designer who can take control of it with no problems. Our developers are very experienced with such issues.
