About this project
The Magic Art Show, set at Grand Prix Las Vegas in June of this year, is going to be the largest exhibition of Magic: the Gathering artwork ever assembled in one place.
We plan to feature over 100 Magic paintings, sketches, concept art and sculptures in a curated gallery to be enjoyed by the largest audience of Magic players ever gathered.
From paintings of Mirrodin land art, to the guild signets of Ravnica, to the newly revealed plane of Amonkhet, the Magic Art Show will bring the worlds of Magic to life, allowing fans to experience the original paintings up close and personal.
The Magic Art Show will be the first ever exhibition of Magic: the Gathering original works.
Visitors to the Magic Art Show will be greeted with a gallery of amazing images from Magic's history, as well as several works from the most recent set of Amonkhet.
Walking around the show will transport you to different worlds and present you with the inspiring skills and creativity involved in bringing Magic: the Gathering to life.
In order to offer Free Admission we are going to Kickstarter to fund the show: We want to open up the art of Magic Art Show to everyone and you can help make that possible.
The Magic Art Show at Grand Prix Las Vegas will be hosted in its own space within the Las Vegas Convention center.
The artists, collectors, and members of the Magic Art Show team are working together to ensure that the amazing artwork is brought to you in a unique, informative, and dynamic presentation.
Organized by plane, display walls and custom lighting fixtures will divide the show into four separate sections. Each plane will be accompanied by descriptions, folklores, and unique histories, enriching visitors with tales of their favorite characters and environments.
First, you will encounter the brand new plane of Amonkhet, set in the realm of Nicol Bolas, engaging with the same artwork featured on the cards being played in the main Grand Prix event.
Next, you planeshift to the mechanical world of Mirrodin, highlighting the drastic contrast in style and emotion between the images of the original Mirrodin block and the aftermath of the Phyrexian invasion.
Bearing witness to the horrors of Innistrad, you will be transformed by werewolves and marvel as the zombies, vampires, and spirits of this dead plane are brought to life.
Finally, you will end your journey in Ravnica, the City of Guilds. The ten guilds will be on parade, each proudly displaying their distinct style and guild colors.
Collaborating with dedicated members of the Magic: the Gathering art collecting community, we have curated a selection of some of the best Magic artworks ever created.
Here is a small sample of some of the amazing artwork that will be on display at the GP Vegas Magic Art Show.
There are many costs associated with running such a large and ambitious event: From shipping the artwork, to creating the space, to securing each individual piece, the amount of money required to do this event right is substantial.
Here is a breakdown of where the funds we are raising will go:
All funds raised in this project will go towards Rewards and the Art Show. We're aiming to make the best event possible, not to make a profit on Kickstarter.

Help us get multi-faceted cosplayer MoxyMTG and up to 10 additional cosplayers to host the Magic Art show so they can share her passion for Magic: the Gathering with you up close and personal!
Moxy, a former actress and model, has been cosplaying Magic since 2011 and is a veteran Magic flavor text writer with a deep love of Magic art and story. With her she will bring an energized team of cosplayers that includes award-winning armorsmiths, experienced prop makers, panelists, and some of the community's most knowledgeable loremasters and roleplayers.
If we can reach this Stretch Goal, we will pay for these talented cosplayers to host the Magic Art Show in-character as some of the most iconic personalities and Planeswalkers in Magic. Come discuss the peculiarities of the Chain Veil with Liliana on Innistrad and embrace the artifact’s dark power as you try it on yourself! Ajani, Arlinn Kord, Tamiyo and their take on the Gatewatch are just a few of the possible cosplays. Or perhaps you're more old-school? Favorites like Akroma, Venser and Hanna could stop by - it's all about Backer preferences!
More stretch goals will be made available as the project is funded.

Risks and challenges
Every event has its risks but we are very confident that we will be able to make the Magic Art Show an event to remember.
Mike Linnemann, a former gaming company art director and museum professional, will be curating the artwork displays to ensure a good flow within the event.
Rico Evangelho, through his Cardamajigs brand, is well known for his innovative Magic: the Gathering accessories and in addition to designing the overall Magic Art Show look and feel, he will be producing the exclusive Tokens and Pins.
Josh Krause has run two of the most historical and successful Kickstarters for Tokens and Playmats and will be coordinating Reward Fulfillment.
Brian Scott Walters has assisted with the setup of several geek art shows including Illuxcon, the largest annual fantasy art show in the world. He also works in merchandising for one of the biggest retailers in the world. Brian will be designing and handling the logistics for the show itself.
With our powers combined, our team stands ready to tackle any obstacles or elder dragons that come our way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
