      Valeureux Charbon

      I Am a Rock

      Paul Simon

      A winter's day
      In a deep and dark
      I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
      I am a rock,
      I am an island.

      I've built walls,
      A fortress deep and mighty,
      That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain.
      It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
      I am a rock,
      I am an island.

      Don't talk of love,
      But I've heard the words before;
      It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
      I am a rock,
      I am an island.

      I have my books
And my poetry to protect me,
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
      I am a rock,
      I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain,
      And an island never cries.

This is not mine (so it might not count) but it is one of my favorite poems and seems to fit Vindication rather well.
From The Pickering Manuscript by William Blake, excerpts of "Auguries of Innocence":

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
      And Eternity in an hour.

A Robin Red breast in a Cage
Puts all Heaven in a Rage.
A Dove house fill'd with Doves & Pigeons
Shudders Hell thro' all its regions.

      A dog starv'd at his Master's Gate
Predicts the ruin of the State.
A Horse misus'd upon the Road
Calls to Heaven for Human blood.

      Every Wolf's & Lion's howl
Raises from Hell a Human Soul.
The wild deer, wand'ring here & there,
Keeps the Human Soul from Care.
The Lamb misus'd breeds public strife
And yet forgives the Butcher's Knife.

The Bat that flits at close of Eve
Has left the Brain that won't believe.
The Owl that calls upon the Night
      Speaks the Unbeliever's fright.

He who shall hurt the little Wren
Shall never be belov'd by Men.
He who the Ox to wrath has mov'd
Shall never be by Woman lov'd.

The wanton Boy that kills the Fly
      Shall feel the Spider's enmity.
He who torments the Chafer's sprite
Weaves a Bower in endless Night.
      The Catterpillar on the Leaf
Repeats to thee thy Mother's grief.
Kill not the Moth nor Butterfly,
For the Last Judgement draweth nigh.

The Gnat that sings his Summer's song
      Poison gets from Slander's tongue.
The poison of the Snake & Newt
Is the sweat of Envy's Foot.
The poison of the Honey Bee
      Is the Artist's Jealousy.

The Prince's Robes & Beggars' Rags
Are Toadstools on the Miser's Bags.
A truth that's told with bad intent
Beats all the Lies you can invent.
      It is right it should be so;
      Man was made for Joy & Woe;
And when this we rightly know
Thro' the World we safely go.
Joy & Woe are woven fine,
      A Clothing for the Soul divine;
      Under every grief & pine
Runs a joy with silken twine.

The Bleat, the Bark, Bellow & Roar
Are Waves that Beat on Heaven's Shore.
The Beggar's Rags, fluttering in Air,
Does to Rags the Heavens tear.
The Soldier arm'd with Sword & Gun,
      Palsied strikes the Summer's Sun.

The Questioner, who sits so sly,
Shall never know how to Reply.
He who replies to words of Doubt
Doth put the Light of Knowledge out.
A Riddle or the Cricket's Cry
Is to Doubt a fit Reply.
He who Doubts from what he sees
Will ne'er believe, do what you Please.
If the Sun & Moon should doubt
      They'd immediately Go out.

      Every Night & every Morn
      Some to Misery are Born.
      Every Morn & every Night
Some are Born to sweet Delight.
Some are Born to sweet Delight,
Some are born to Endless Night.

We are led to Believe a Lie
When we see not Thro' the Eye
Which was Born in a Night to Perish in a Night
When the Soul Slept in Beams of Light.

God Appears & God is Light
To those poor Souls who dwell in the Night,
But does a Human Form Display
To those who Dwell in Realms of day.

Well, I'll just do what I made fun of earlier:

Once I became lost in the gloomiest forest
In search of each and any path
And when the hope was almost lost to me
I quite sudden entered a clearing

There the light played on the swaying grass
And in the midst of flowers and fern
A wild fae sat beautifully as a spring day
Dazzled by the magic of the world

She said: Do not be sad and listen to the wind.
Everything flows, everything drifts, everything has its time.
Never forget that we are children of the moment!
The moment just now shelters an entire life!

And if you want to hear it, I'll tell you:
If you want to leave, leave.
If you want to stay, stay.
If you want to dance, dance with me!

While not a favourite, it fits the desription perfectly.

In horror I arrived, in honor I plan to leave
vindicated of my sins is hard to believe
Through journey thick and trial old
      tested, reflected, unbowed, unsold
Never again will I betray the trust
strive against pain helping to fix the unjust

I am ecstatic at the opportunity to have the minstrel in the game. She was by far my favorite image from the visual guide & lore book. I don't use Facebook, but want to help get her in the game. My favorite poem is Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelly.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
      The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
      My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Than you for the absolutely fabulous game and the opportunity to bring this amazing work of art to life.

I am living in the "non-braindead crowd" ^_^

      On this island,
      on this road,
came her by fate, by chance, by boat,
with soaring waves and soring throat,
I sing here now my tune, behold.

      Moving on to coming glade,
      follow me, must I persuade?

This journey of mine, how splendid, how riveting,
move along until the morning greets us good evening.

I really like all the player-polls you are running, but out of privacy reasons I do not have Facebook. I was really happy with the poll system of the first few updates, could you reconsider using that system instead of Facebook?
