OPERATION ENCORE is a music collaboration of singer-songwriters with military experience from across the different branches of service. Our goal is to produce an album telling the stories and sharing the experiences of our veterans from the past decade-plus of war.
We have sought out talent from across our military and veteran communities to find exceptional singer-songwriters. OPERATION ENCORE will be the result of months of collaboration among artists culminating in studio recording in Arizona in mid-2014.
Who We Are
OPERATION ENCORE was created by three Air Force pilots who have known each other for over a decade. Chris Kurek and Rob Raymond have been independently writing, performing and producing their own music, primarily consisting of aviation-related songs, since 2001, so they know what it takes to cut a successful album.

How Your Contribution Will Help
Initial fundraising efforts will cover album production costs, including studio recording, mixing, mastering, manufacturing, artwork, etc. Additionally, our intent is to bring all artists out to the studio, which will require funding travel and logistics for our veteran participants. The overall budget will be just over $20,000. Since we have so many participants, much of the cost is for travel and studio time. Once we cover all of our initial start up costs the artists can start making money on their songs and we can start planning for the album release!
We plan to finish recording by the end of May. Mixing, mastering and CD manufacturing will take a few months, then we'll begin shipping. Digital Downloads will be immediately available to contributors on the official release date, which we currently anticipate in September.
Our Music and Progress
We have started uploading previews of our music on our website www.operationencoremusic.com and we'll keep updating you throughout the recording process with pictures and videos.
Risks and challenges
We have chosen 10 artists from across the country and selected 16 songs for our debut album.
We are already in the studio refining the songs and laying down foundation tracks (i.e. drums, bass) in preparation for bringing all of our songwriters out to the studio. We have collaborated with artists over email, phone, and facetime and made great progress. Due to the nature of military service and the number of musicians we are working with, it may be a challenge to collaborate in this way. There will be deployments and operations tempo for some and school or work for others. Despite this challenge we've been able to schedule all of our artists together in the studio and we have put together a great team to produce a final product.
We also realize we are embarking on a collaborative adventure with a dozen or so people that don't really know each other. This is one of the reasons we planned to bring all the artists out to Arizona for the same studio period. We've rented a house near the studio and planned a small live show to help build relationships, get the creative juices flowing, and hopefully lead to some further collaboration.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
