My name is Ramiro Montes De Oca, and for the last 4 years I've been programming and designing performance microlight products for Emazing Lights. I've designed many of your favorite lights and parts including the Chroma, Chroma 24, Flow Chip, Oracle, Trinity, eNova, eZlites, eLites, OrbiteX, eLite casings, and diffusers.
Open Source is a way of life, and innovation thrives with Open Source. We feel that a community without options will slowly fade away sinking by its own weight.
Quantum Hex LLC joins the Open Source community that believes that innovation can and should be shared to accelerate the propagation of good ideas.
We are giving the community a fair & square open source tool and open source software to explore a new universe of performance microlights. We are the first open source microlight on the market, but we know that others will follow and because of this we will be putting a strong emphasis on the developer’s community and empower those developers to try things that have never been done before.
The OSM is just a part of a big universe of Open Source pieces that will interconnect to form a variety of Open Source Software and Hardware focused on performance arts.

How does this light work?
First, it's going to come pre-loaded with a TON of mind blowing modes including many of your old school favorites. You can use this light right out of the packaging, utilize all these amazing modes and never connect, share, trade, or expand your mode selection. It'll still be better than any other light you ever used!
Next, we're going to include the free open source software to update your light. It's REALLY not that hard and we're going to be making some videos on the very basic coding that is used to change modes and colors. Once you save a setup you can save it as a file and send it to all your friends - they just need to copy and paste it onto their chip. We're building a developer community so that you can learn (as well as trade) from one another. Our code will be posted up for free, and you’ll be able to post up your own code as well. The Open Source Microlight is based on the popular Arduino Uno. The most popular Open Source developer platform for 8-bit microcontrollers.
Being Open Source means that you have a wide selection of programs available for this device.
New programs and updates will be matter of days apart without the hassle of buying new Microlights constantly.
We reduced a classic Arduino Uno into the size of a Microlight and added an Accelerometer to the OSMxyz. That wasn’t an easy task.
First, we wanted to have the accelerometer on the absolute center of the board. This is to get the best readings of the accelerometer.
Second, we have to output the best options for a Microlight, so we gave you a wide variety of Inputs and Outputs out of the Atmega328p.
The OSM and the OSM-xyz is not your regular Microlight. Running at 16mhz, this Microlight is so versatile that Gloving will be just one of the applications. The memory range and speed capacity makes this Microlight, the perfect wearable device for your crazy projects.
The OSM Programmer it's your link between the OSM and a computer. This is a Serial adapter modified to plug into a Micro USB programmer. A USB to Serial adapter can be plugged on the Comm ports of the OSM as alternative, but this specific communication method it's proprietary and Open Sourced by OSM.
We have a wide variety of rewards, and we hope to cover all options. Probably the biggest reward is our 200’s OSM-xyz Early Bird. This Reward will ship one week after the payments from Kickstarter clear. We expect this one week after the campaign ends. We already have experience on manufactory, and our lead times are approximately 2 weeks. Se we expect to place the order very soon. The rest of the Rewards will follow our regular production schedule, that is a 3 weeks lead time, and based on Kickstarter campaigns we don’t think this is a bad offer.

Risks and challenges
We don’t anticipate many challenges as we are in the final stages, we are 100% confident on our ability to deliver the OSM! We have good experience in overseas manufacturing and retail distribution, but that doesn't exempt us from potential supply chain issues. We didn't want to approach Kickstarter with only a prototype, and that is the reason we didn't start this campaign until we had fully functioning production samples in our hands. We are personally controlling production overseas to handle any quality control issues.
