Have a question?
Your ROV shipped months ago. Sending you the tracking number via email. We'll get this straightened out.
when do you ship my packages?
Very cool - looking forward to it - keep up the great work.
We were waiting for the latest software update: http://openrov.com/profiles/blogs/software-update
Now we're putting the finishing touches on over the next few days. Next: testing. Then ship!
A longer update/email coming to you later today with more details.
Folks - have the assembled OpenROVs shipped yet? I don't see any updates to that regard and I haven't seen it yet here.
Of course not Peter! Your kit shipped in December. I'm looking into what happened right now. Will send you an email with what happened. We'll get this figured out.
your estimated delivery date was: Sep 2012...
Now it's March 2013 and I still didn't recieve the package.
Did you forget me?
Last message came 6 weeks ago - saying "OpenROV goes to Antarctica"...
- Peter (Germany)
Again, very sorry for error on the wire. There should have been more. It's already in the mail. I'll update the wiki with the correct measurements. 80cm will be more than enough.
where do I find the correct pre cut length for the motor wires? in the instruction it says "measurements coming"
There was just a small roll of white wire, barely enough to do the 3 pieces for the battery tubes. Since I am in Europe now and have everything shipped from my home address, this takes a lot of time
Here's a list: http://wiki.openrov.com/index.php/What%27s_in_the_OpenROV_Kit
Sorry that there wasn't enough 18awg wire. I'll get some more in the mail to you ASAP.
Do you have a list of all additional items that I have to purchase that are not included with the OpenROV kit
I purchased? I just started the assembly and then find out there are additional things that are not included in the kit and where I live it is not that easy to just go and get it locally. Besides the special epoxy, there is not enough wire included to wire the motors, just enough for the battery tubes and no mention what wire I should purchase and the exact length to pre cut the motor leads is not mentioned anywhere. Is there anything else that I have to get so I can try to get everything at the same time. Thanks
Certainly Henning. Here is some discussion about that topic on the forums:
Can someone tell me if I can use 8 rechargeable C cell batteries (1.2V) instead of the expensive alternative of using regular disposable C cell batteries?
Amazing. Honored and humbled.
Thank you all so much. We can't wait to get these robots out to you all!
Congrats for the Funding!!!!!!!!!
I'm late to the party so I couldn't add intl shipping. Sent you a message and hope I can add it now.

Chuong / David (OpenROV), please keep us updated on the meetup. If you need help setting it up, let me know.
Great idea I am in. If anybody in South Florida wants to work on this I have a kit coming and I have a 34 ft center Console out of Haulover Inlet. email me at email@example.com
Daniel Lawson, we laser cut the acrylic parts at TechShop and assemble it in our garage. You can see our bill of materials, as well as where to purchase parts directly, on our website: http://openrov.com/page/openrov-2-0-overview
The BOM is hosted on Google Docs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc…
do you guys manufacture the parts at a local shop?
Yes! We'll be in NY for World Maker Faire in September. We'd love to host a meetup/build day around that time to get the NYC OpenROV community together.
Bradley - My son (17) and I would love to find a group to help build and test when the kit arrives. We do recreational diving, and are hoping to use this nice robot to do a little research on lyonfish. OpenROV, please let us know if you are hosting any meetup in northern NJ/NYC.
Very cool project - could make a lot of environmental research a lot more accessible to small NGOs!
OpenROV Could you clarify the type of board used. I have seen both BeagleBone and Arduino. One uses Linux with a cape and one uses Arduino with no additional shield mentioned. Your github site appears to have files for both. Thanks.
Great project guys! I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next for OpenROV.
Anyone in NYC/NJ want to do the build together?
Wooohoooooo! Fully funded baby!
I'm so proud of you guys! This is amazing!
Rachel - YES! We'll be hosting several meetups in the Bay Area (and wherever else enough of the community gathers) to build and operate the ROVs. Join the community at OpenROV.com and stay tuned for updates about those events.
Aww you did NOT create a pledge level for those of us who already have access to a laser cutter. Couple of us had asked about this on your openROV.com forum. There isnt even a level for plans only. Bummer.
Can't afford the kit, but I think it's an awesome project and would love to help build one. If you got the kit, you're in the bay area, and you wouldn't mind a little help, let me know!
And the early bird is sold out. Glad I got in on it! Not bad for... Hold on, let's see...
Email received at 1:16 pm, sold out by 2:30
I'm so excited about this project.
well, what are you going to do with the next 32 days, once you've made your goal in 1? :)
I'm seriously looking forward to this. Thank for you making this a reality.
