The Open Goldberg Variations are now on Bandcamp

In order to further promote the Open Goldberg Variations, and to reduce operational costs that fall outside of the original project budget, the Open Goldberg Variations are now hosted on Bandcamphttps://kimikoishizaka.bandcamp.com/album/j-s-bach-open-goldberg-variations

The music files are available, as before, in FLAC, WAV, and MP3 formats. They are now additionally available as AIF as well. Furthermore, the metadata of the files is improved, containing individual track art and better normalized metadata.

Hosting the downloads of the Open Goldberg Variations has been expensive, costing over $3,000 since the release in May, 2012. This expense was not budgeted for, and has come out of pocket.

Furthermore, despite many fans' inquiries about how they may donate money to the project to support Kimiko and her efforts to record more great music, we've never offered a mechanism to support this. With Bandcamp, it is easy to set up "pay what you want" downloads and give fans that opportunity, while preserving the free (gratis and libre) aspects of the music itself.

Finally, the download form on Bandcamp has an email capture field, meaning we'll be able to notify people of upcoming releases (such as the Open Well-Tempered Clavier).

Check it out, and share it with others!
