Attention: We are now cooking the follow-up release to "Dem Say Ah", the certified afro-house anthem dropping this Spring. Help us bring our next release to life, on vinyl!
"Certified banger! I hate that I've had the record for three weeks now but am not allowed to play it on my evr.com show yet, ha ha! The world needs to hear it!" -Bobbito Garcia aka Kool Bob Love on "Dem Say Ah"
DJ Center, and Open Crates founders Dre & Steve are brothers in vinyl culture. Center has traveled the globe over the last decade getting dusty fingers as a DJ, producer & curator.
Across the water in Jersey, Dre and Steve have been growing Open Crates - a weekly social strictly for vinyl heads to spin & discover new records. Open Crates expanded from a community dig to a boutique label when Dre & Steve connected with drummer/composer Pat Van Dyke to press up a bonus 7” off his “Technicolor Hi-Fi” LP on Cotter Records.
Then, Dre pitched Center on collaborating to design & press the follow-up vinyl release to Center’s "Everything In Time" LP.
That follow-up is the deluxe, gold-colored vinyl edition of "Dem Say Ah".
Certain records deserve analog treatment. What started as a remix for Jazz artist Gregory Porter, blossomed into a collage of deep house & afrobeat rhythms. The textures are so diversely rich that only a premium cut 10” vinyl could maintain the sonic quality.
“You need THIS record in your life” - @TraScapades tweeted after hearing DJ Spinna premier the record at his “No Limits” party at The 303 at Louie & Chan, NYC.
"Dem Say Ah" has been gaining steady traction in soulful boogie spots around NYC - perfect timing for a summer explosion at clubs, street parties & festivals. But like truly addicted music heads, Center & Open Crates can’t wait to follow-up "Dem Say Ah" with the next tropical soul banger!
So we’re holding a set of “Dem Say Ah” original pressings to raise funds for a Fall 2014 release. The proceeds will be used to contribute to the mastering, pressing and packaging costs.
Stay tuned to our page for updates on "Dem Say Ah" and the Fall 2014 release from Open Crates and DJ Center!
Risks and challenges
Although we have many tracks lined up for another vinyl release, there's still production, editing, mixing, mastering and creative design work to be completed. We are committed to releasing premium packages every time. So there may be creative and production risk that contributes to minimal delays in releasing the next record. However, the rewards for this campaign are ready to be delivered immediately upon donation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
