We're very pleased to announce...
Greetings OpenBCI community,
We are checking in to give you an update on how things are going.
We’re very pleased to announce that we are on schedule to receive the full manufacturing run before the end of September!
What does this mean? As soon as we receive the new OpenBCI hardware, we will flash it with the latest OpenBCI firmware and begin the distribution process. We will begin by shipping all of the Kickstarter backer rewards. After all of the Kickstarter rewards are shipped, we will then begin fulfilling pre-order purchases. We plan to get all Kickstarter rewards delivered by mid-October, and all pre-order shipments delivered by the end of October.
If your shipping address is different than when you filled out our initial Kickstarter survey, please update your address through the Kickstarter interface so that we send your reward to the correct location. Here’s a Kickstarter blog post on how to update your address. Do this before you forget!
As for the current state of the tech, we recently achieved successful wireless streaming of data between the OpenBCI board and the OpenBCI USB dongle, so now we are in the final stages of stitching together all of the firmware code. That being said, there will naturally be bugs in the firmware that we will only discover once you—the core OpenBCI users—begin to research and develop with the technology. As a result, we will publish frequent firmware updates that can be uploaded to the hardware to improve overall system performance. When these firmware updates are released we will provide detailed documentation on how to go about uploading them to your hardware.
We can’t emphasize enough how much we appreciate your patience and your support. We are very excited to empower your research, projects, and ideas with OpenBCI. We’ll touch base with you again soon, once we receive the full manufacturing run.
Also, don't forget to grab your tickets to next week's World Maker Faire New York. We were lucky enough to be accepted as an exhibitor, so we'll be there showing off the latest and greatest OpenBCI prototypes. :)
All the best,
The OpenBCI Team
