Update #6

The Oona at the Maker Faire with Discover Channel's Mike Rowe

Hello Oonalians,

Just a quick update after Brad and Danny's great weekend at the Bay Area Maker Faire. An awesome event as usual, we had a great chance to connect with fellow makers, hooked up with some fellow kickstarter projects, and spent some time chillin with Mike Rowe, host of Discover Channel's show Dirty Jobs. Here are couple of pictures from the event:

The Oona booth.

We ran out of business cards, hoping that's a good sign.

Mike Rowe checking out The Oona.

You'll notice they are filming... We'll keep you posted...

Mike Rowe also checked out Danny's homemade Segway.

...and took it for a spin.

After a great weekend, celebrating with the geniuses behind the c-loop.

As for our progress on Kickstarter, we just hit 850% of our goal with 2,500 supporters are currently in the top 15 of most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, and we've still got 10 days left!

Thank you everyone for your support and your ideas (love the Twoona). We've started working on a few new projects based on your feedback and will keep you posted as soon as we have anything substantial.

Brad, Danny and Sam

PS - For anyone who uses their iPhone 4 as a camera. Here's a great kickstarter project we've discovered: A quick change camera lens system that snaps on to your phone to act as a fisheye, wide-angle and macro lense. Very small, very simple and fits in your pocket (sounds familiar).

Also, a big congratulations to our friends at Juices, finishing with over $21,000 in funding. Last few hours to get your sustainable Juices on kickstarter.

Update #5

Building an Oonation

Hello Oonatarians,

We are two weeks into our KickStarter project and we're thrilled with how many people have decided to back us! We are currently at 668% of our goal with 2,039 backers. Just for context, we are currently in the top 40 KickStarter projects of all time.

Thank you all very much for your support and for your suggestions! This includes your take on what the plural form of Oona should be - it seems that "Ooni" is fairly popular. I'm currently toying with the idea that "Oona" could be both singular and plural, like the word "deer." Mind blowing, I know.

We are getting a lot of questions on when The Oona (see, it works) will be shipped out. We don't have an exact date right now, but we will get them out as soon as we possibly can. We are in the process of finalizing an agreement with a production machine shop and will work with them to get the products out the door as quickly as we can the moment our KickStarter run closes. Sorry we can't be more specific right now, but we'll post an update as soon as we have a better idea.

In case you missed it, The Oona was featured in several blogs over the last week. If you're interested in seeing what they had to say about it, you can check out the links here: Laughing Squid, The Next Web, Techi and 9to5Mac.

We're hopefully going to have one or two big announcements coming in the next week or so - we will keep you posted on those. In the meantime, please keep sending us suggestions on improvements for The Oona or offerings alongside it that would help you be able to use it, they are incredibly helpful for us!

Brad, Danny and Sam

PS - In case you haven't seen it, we're big fans of the Capture Camera Clip System, a fellow KickStarter Design project. It is a very simple, compact way to attach your camera to any belt or strap and take it with you wherever you go.

Update #4

The Oona: Number One Design Project!

Hello Oonaations,

What a great day! After all is said and done, at the end of day seven The Oona is now 276% funded from 865 backers and is listed as the number one most popular design project on KickStarter. Quite honestly, we're a little in shock that so many people jumped on board so quickly. More than anything we appreciate the comments, suggestions and questions that you have posed. Please keep them coming, we're open to any and all ideas for The Oona.

Just today, backer Jonathan Penyack posed the important question of how The Oona should be referred to in plural form. Oonas? Oonae? Ooni? Please let us know if you have any thoughts on this - feel free to leave comments or tweet us: @TheOona.

In case you missed it, today we were featured in both Fast Company Design and The Unofficial Apple Weblog. @FastCompany also threw a tweet our way, which was just plain awesome.

On a final note, just want to give a shout out to the guys at The Glif, a former KickStarter project. They helped inspired us to start our project, and are an important factor in why we are here. 23 more days to go! We'll keep you posted and hope to hear from you soon.

Brad, Danny and Sam

PS - The pHOLD is another cool iphone gadget we've spotted on kickstarter that can actually do something The Oona can't (gasp!), connect your iphone to your bike. For all you cyclist, we think this one is pretty cool.

Update #3

Half Way There!

Hello Oonatarians,

Big Big day for The Oona team! With our best day ever we have hit and passed the half-way mark! With 143 backers and $5,221 pledged, we are at 52% of our funding goal with 24 days remaining. Thank you everyone for your support, we're happy to see everyone is as excited about The Oona as we are.

One reason we had a great day, is that we were featured on Make Magazine's site. You can see the article here. This is a publication we all respect and enjoy and are honored to be included in. For all you Makers out there, this should definitely be a daily read for you.

Thank you everyone for the questions and suggestions. We have tried to incorporate as many of your ideas as we can, so take a look at our page for updates and keep them coming! Many of you have tweeted and facebooked our kickstarter page or website. Thank you for this! This has led to many more views and pledges.

Onward and Upward,

Brad, Danny and Sam

PS - We've been keeping our eye on different projects on kickstarter and here is one we like called Juices. It's a simple, fun idea for ipods/iphones.

Update #2

2K in 2 Days!

Fellow Oonanadians,

Just under 48 hours into our project and we are 22% of our goal with $2,231 pledged and 49 backers!

We received a note from KickStarter saying that we are doing a great job and they are "thrilled" to see how well it is going already. So we gotta say, thanks again!

We've received a lot of inquiries asking about how we came up with the name The Oona. So we thought we'd tell you.

As you might know, The Oona is the first product that Brad, Danny and I have worked on together and "Oona" is a variant of the Latin word "Una," meaning "one." So there you go.

(Also, apparently Charlie Chaplin's wife was named Oona, so there's a little tidbit of information)

Thanks all, more to come.
