Zoe's fourth book is done and ready for print. Beginning at age 5 through age 64, Zoe writes about her life examining how she got all wrapped up in activism and social justice. Her life is about living with a fully engaged heart.
The one thread of her life is books. From her first bookcase of lives of the saints, building The Magic Speller Bookstore in 1976, writing for Feminists Who Changed America; Zoe is in love with BOOKS.
Though she is electronically savvy, she knows nothing is better than a printed book (on recycled paper). Write in the margins, notes inside the back cover, a coffee ring stained on the front, jammed into a suitcase. She is working to raise the money to take her memoir to the printer - so you can carry it, write in it, fall asleep with it.
With the money raised, her graphic artist and book designer (who has done all of her books) will create the layout including over 100 captioned pictures. With the estimate in from her printer, she knows what it will take to order 200 copies. Should this campaign raise more -- the more books she can order.
December 19 update
Yesterday the kindle edition became available. The reviews are astounding. I could not be more excited about taking The Engaged Heart to print when the Kickstarter money comes through. The more we raise, the more we can order.
Risks and challenges
The obstacle is the cost of design and printing. We have already gotten the estimate from the graphic artist and the POD printer. We have been working with the designer for over 25 years and the printer for 10. We are confident that with this KickStarter Campaign complete, we will be able to print the first100. Should we receive more than our original request, it will be spent on additional copies of The Engaged Heart.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
