1-2-Simple Cooking seeks to be a source of inspiration for joyous, healthy, and simple cooking on a smaller serving scale. It’s about relating to the reality of smaller spaces and limited ingredients, limited budgets, and limited free time due to busy lives that often get in the way of our health and well-being. Our targeted audience includes college students, single professionals, and couples.
Our vision is to produce an inspiring cooking show web series and website that caters to singles and couples of all ages and from all backgrounds. This show aims to provide great, simple recipes and tips that promote healthy habits even with an active lifestyle. We are currently accepting donations to produce the pilot webisode of 1-2-Simple Cooking. Our plan is to shoot the pilot in mid-September and take the webisode out to sponsors by October.

Joy Zhang was born in Shanghai, China, and moved to the United States when she was two. Growing up as the only child, she often followed her mother around the kitchen shadowing her every move. Food has always played an important role in her family, with her mother being a chef back in China, Joy was exposed to various ingredients and cuisines. Her mother instilled all of her Chinese culinary knowledge and soon Joy found herself completely enveloped in the beauty and magic of cooking.
Despite urgings from her parents to go into the medical field, upon graduation Joy decided to pursue her passion in cooking. After moving to Tucson, Arizona, with her fiancé, she began working as a Chef de Partie at an upscale French restaurant, Le Rendezvous. She has also had experience working as a Pastry Chef at Bailey’s Prime Plus.
In 2009, she launched a food blog http://joylicious.net where she showcases recipes and cooking tips for fellow food lovers to share. She currently resides in Dallas with her husband Collin and dog, Layla.
Her recipes and food blog have been featured in several publications, including the Eggland’s Best website, Rotarian Life Magazine, FoodGawker.com, TasteSpotting.com, FoodBuzz.com, etc. She also has recipes published in international magazines in countries such as Australia and Korea.
