Be Totes for the Trees
We've all seen the reports - Billions of trees lost each year to deforestation and wildfire. Plastics polluting our waters. Recycling services being forced to incinerate. The list goes on. We're up to our knees in bad news of nature and sustainability emergencies.
Let's change the news, one bag at a time and one tree at a time. There is a lot of enthusiasm about cities committing to ban single-use plastic bags. We think it is a great idea. But we would also like to reduce paper bag use as well. Why? We are tree huggers. We are OneTree.org and we are "totes for the trees"!
Totes for the Trees is our vision for aligning the need to reduce single-use plastic bags with our mission to plant as many trees as humanly possible. How? For every tote purchased, we'll use the proceeds to plant a tree. We have already planted thousands of trees in cooperation with small donors, but we need to be planting a whole lot more. To accelerate our reforestation efforts, we have designed these fun reusable tote bags so supporters can help us plant more trees, reduce your plastic use and show your love for the environment when you're out and about.
About the Bags
Totes for the Trees have been designed to go beyond the grocery store. Being oriented toward the outdoors, we know how useful totes can be for days out on the boat, at the beach, parks, camping and other excursions. We know how we tear through the cheap ones. We wanted our totes to be better built. We are having a custom textile pattern produced with velcro closures, printed sides and double-stitched seams for durability. This is a premium quality bag. We want these to last. We need your help here on Kickstarter because higher end tote designs require minimum order quantities to be manufactured with edge-to-edge full color printing and insulation. Therefore, Totes for the Trees requires an all-or-nothing campaign to become a reality. We hope you'll play your part and be Totes for the Trees.
Thank you so much for helping make these bags possible.

About the Designs
For our first "Original Supporter Tote" bag design, we went with a 70s inspired doodle throwback. It is chock full of elements that take you outdoors and into the wild. We also threw in fun little tree factoids so jealous onlookers can learn a thing or two about the cause when you're in line at the register.
Our second bag, "Indian Key Pass", is an incredible solitary mangrove tree photographed by acclaimed landscape photographer and One Tree supporter, Marc Damon. Indian Key Pass is deep in the Ten Thousand Islands region off the coast of Everglades City in Southwest Florida. Marc has graciously lent this popular photo to the cause of OneTree.org and the Totes for the Trees project.
Totes for the Trees is a new grocery tote bag line by OneTree.org. We are a reforestation organization with hopes to leverage practical apparel and accessories like these to help fund tree planting projects. Check out https://onetree.org to learn more. Thanks!
How Kickstarter Works
Kickstarter is the leading "crowdfunding" platform. What that means is the community at large agrees to support a project by voting with their dollars. If enough people put enough dollars in to reach the financial goal of the campaign, the project is considered funded. Once a project is funded, your sponsorship amount will be charged to your card. If the project does not reach its funding goal, you are not charged anything. Thank you for considering support of the "Totes for the Trees" tote bags.
Risks and challenges
We have selected a reputable custom bag manufacturer who comes with references from well regarded US brands. They have proven their ability to produce volumes much greater than we need. To make this campaign viable for project funding, we are producing these bags in China. We do not have inventory on hand. The primary risk with this project is the event of freight or port forwarding delays or complete loss of the shipment in transit. That said, only leading freight and logistics providers will be used in the delivery of these bags from China to Florida. US carriers for drop shipping will be limited to USPS, FedEx or UPS once the inventory is received. Thank you very much for your support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
