A Woman With Hollow Eyes
A Woman With Hollow Eyes is an interactive streaming actual play series presented by The ONE SHOT Network. We’re continuing our story from Season 1 set in the surrealist magical Actuality of Invisible Sun.
Invisible Sun is a game of surreal fantasy. Our real world is an illusion known as Shadow and the true “Actuality” is a world where magic and secrets are the building blocks of the universe. Player characters take on the role of vislae, magic users seeking hidden truths in their home city of Satyrine, and across the nine suns that make up Actuality. Using mechanics to create compelling player-driven narratives, Invisible Sun is the perfect catalyst for strange and wonderful dramatic stories.
The world of A Woman With Hollow Eyes blends the mind-bending imagery and themes of Invisible Sun with the absurdity of real life. Satyrine is a magical city plagued by infrastructure problems like “sound holes” that steal the noise from the air, corrupt lenders who seek to saddle vulnerable people with unimaginable debt, and families of rats just trying to climb the social ladder.
We’re returning for a short season focused on Calvin’s continued efforts to understand himself while causing trouble for the people around him.
If we fund we plan to air our first season 2 episode 2/12/2019! You won't have to wait long to start watching.
In Shadow, Calvin was a struggling art school graduate who grappled with depression and failed relationships. He awoke to find he is a vislae who was once a daring adventurer with a tragic destiny. Despite his grand past, Calvin struggles to control his powers and fit into a world that is completely alien to him. Last season he had to adjust quickly as he discovered his past self had laid the groundwork for building a new world, and made quite a few enemies along the way.
Despite his struggles, Calvin has found a few comforts in his new Actuality. He found that he was once married and his husband, the book-headed Libralite waited patiently for his return. His new friends risked fates worse than death to help him and he discovered that he would do the same for them. Even though Actuality seems like it’s hell bent on destroying him, it’s somehow less bleak than life in Shadow.
An incredible amount of work went into our first season. We want to make Season 2 even better! To do that we need to pay our cast and crew for their hard work. This Kickstarter will provide us with a budget to pay our actors, and stream operator. Without a budget to pay our staff, we can't go into production.
After A Woman With Hollow Eyes ends production, we’ll compile all of the playable content we made for the show, along with fan-made content submitted to the Kickstarter, into a PDF for you to take advantage of in your own games at home.
The world of Invisible Sun is suffused with magic that often has a will of its own. Flux is what happens when spells go wrong. A flux effect can be amusing, inconvenient, or devastating. At this level you can control what happens when we face the unexpected by contributing to a Flux Chart we will consult when they come up in-game.
Flux is randomly generated in play, so we cannot guarantee that every flux effect will make it in. However, all flux effects will appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
$30 Friends and Neighbors
Enter our living setting by naming NPCs that will appear in our home city of Satyrine, or one met on our journeys. At this level you contribute a name and thematic inspiration for NPCs that will appear in A Woman With Hollow Eyes. NPCs will be randomly selected, but this gives viewers a chance to leave a lasting mark on our game.
All NPCs will appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
$50 Goetic Colloquy
In Invisible Sun, Goetics access magic by summoning and communicating with demons, spirits, and stranger things. At this level you will be able to name and provide a three-sentence backstory for a demon or angel that might appear in A Woman With Hollow Eyes.
Demons and angels generated by this level will appear as NPCs, be summoned by NPC Goetics, and will be available for any PC Goetics to know the name of and summon. While we cannot guarantee a being’s appearance in the show, all submissions will appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
Invisible Sun is full of magical secrets, spells, and items. Fleeting magical spells and items are called ephemera. Players will encounter ephemera throughout their journey into the surreal, or open their minds and receive ephemera via mystical susurrus. Ephemera are always beneficial to the user, though they may trigger flux. At this level, you can contribute one incantation (spell) and one ephemera object (potions, pills, feathers, burrowing glyph-covered grubs) with a guarantee that one of them will be used in our campaign.
All ephemera contributed to this level will appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
Places and objects hold power (and secrets) in Invisible Sun. At this level you can create a fixture in our Satyrine, something that helps define the city and gives our PC’s an opportunity to wonder. You could create an intimidating sausage shop to fill us with dread, a literal emotional playground to be a catalyst for a rekindled romance, or a bar that acts as the charming heart of the romance district. Whatever you make will appear and influence the narrative for season 2.
All monuments created at this level will be featured in the show and appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
$250 Sooth Sayer
When player characters want to research an arcane tome, sneak into the vaults of a powerful Vance, or explore a flashback scene to discover more about themselves, Invisible Sun uses Development Mode. These are diceless, narrative scenes that involve one or more characters and the GM. These will take place over some form of text, whether chats or emails, and shared with the audience.
One Sooth Deck card is drawn to help the GM narrate what happens. The Sooth Deck is an integral tool in Invisible Sun, and one of its uses is tarot-like divination. Darcy will set up a Development Mode scene with a PC, and will consult with you to help her craft the scene and interpret the Sooth Card.
$300 Create an Event
Create an important event happening in the city of Satyrine that will become an important plot point in the narrative of season 2. A party, a holiday, an election, the birthday celebration of an ancient spell. Whether the players become the stars or disruptors of the event, it is sure to add a new spice to the mix.
All Events created at this level will be featured in the show and appear in the A Woman With Hollow Eyes Season 2 PDF.
$500 Sun Warden
The Actuality shifts under the influence of eight Suns (Silver, Green, Blue, Indigo, Grey, Pale, Red, Gold), in addition to the Invisible Sun. These Suns are planes of existence through which magic currents flow, so their influence extends across the Actuality and can shine upon the PCs at any time.
This level makes you master, protector, or guardian of one. Backers will work with Darcy to plot how an episode of A Woman With Hollow Eyes is influenced by that Sun. These events will have major influences on the shape of the world, players, and events.
All backer contributions made to A Woman With Hollow Eyes are subject to minor changes to fit the setting and tone of the game. We reserve the right to refuse contributions that contain offensive material, especially any that attack race, gender, or sexual orientation. Refunds will not be offered in these cases.
$4,000 Cast and Crew Raise
We get to pay performers and crew on this project just a little more for their time and effort.
$5000 Podcast Special
We’ll produce a single one-shot story with guests and performers from season 1 like Alan Linic and Tanya DePass
We wouldn’t be anywhere without our talented game master and keeper of secrets, Darcy Ross. You might recognize her as one of the co-designers on Burn Brite, the Community Relations Coordinator for Monte Cook Games, and Cicatrix from MCG’s The Raven Wants What You Have actual play series.
Last season she dazzled us all with a thrilling introduction to the world of Invisible Sun. Now she has the opportunity to start knocking over narrative dominoes as we travel deeper into her Actuality.

Risks and challenges
This will be the third kickstarted actual play campaign produced by the ONE SHOT Network. We have all the equipment we need to produce this series, and the experience to do it well. Barring something unexpected happening to the main cast or production crew, A Woman With Hollow Eyes will enter production without issue.
Last season we had difficulty finding the time to compose the backer PDF. This season we're hiring someone to manage the construction of PDF for us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
