There's nothing like a backyard filled with birds to start your day off right. They're a entertaining to watch, reconnecting you with nature - that world just beyond that glass screen you're looking at right now! Feeding neighborhood birds is interesting & fun ...and the birds certainly appreciate it.
We introduced the original Brdi Hanger feeder here on Kickstarter in 2014. Our backers loved it and it's always been one of our favorite projects. Since then, we've gotten a lot of requests for new designs & colors...
Brdi feeders combine the fun of building things with the joy of connecting with nature just outside your window. Think of Brdi as 'IKEA for birds'!
They arrive flat, are crafted from .025" (.6mm) thick easy-to-fold powder coated aluminum, can be assembled in minutes and will provide years of fine feathered friend feeding frenzy fun! Each feeder is self-draining to keep the seeds dry and includes 5' of nylon paracord that when mounted at 2-points, assures the seeds will stay put during take-offs and landings.
Fly + drive-in = Flyin! Flyin's A-frame design has a low center of gravity, is super stable an all kinds of wind & weather, and comes with a wood perch that allows for 2 birds to feed at a time.
Diner invites birds to take a break from the weather, to enter one side and exit the other, protected from the elements in the middle. It'll become your neighborhood birds' favorite hangout!
Don't have a branch to hang Brdi? No problem! Bar attaches to the outside of any window with a suction cup hook and can be enjoyed from inside. A window near your breakfast table or outside your office would be the ideal location!
Little known fact: birds actually JUMP when the take off, putting alot of downward force on the perch, flipping the feeder over if it's not secured well. Our first cardboard prototype was a real learning experience - seeds flew everywhere (happy squirrels). A quick fix with the 2 point hanger design kept the seeds in place (sad squirrels).
Brdi feeders are perfect for small to medium-sized birds. We have medium-sized Cardinals on them often - one of our backers from the UK sent us a photo with a wild parrot (big!) somehow making it work...
Speaking of squirrels - while no feeder is truly squirrel-proof, the sloping, slippery roof design leaves them with little to hang onto and the aluminum construction is virtually indestructible.
We have been producing the original Brdi Hanger for about 5 years now and are very familiar with both the production processes and the shops that produce them for us.
Predicting shipping schedules is always difficult, though, without knowing exactly how many pieces we'll be producing - but we’re confident we will be able to BEGIN shipping in August:
Our default worldwide shipping method will be by US Post. We've had a high success rate with it on past projects, but please note that it will not include tracking beyond the US border.
We'd be happy to help make alternative shipping arrangements with tracking at an additional cost if you require.
Inspired in part by the 'localvore' (locally-produced food) movement, our name 'Onehundred' comes from the 100 mile radius around our Saxonville, MA studio where we seek out interesting, talented New England manufacturers, assuring that we can spend time getting to know them, their experience, machines and capabilities.
Our neighborhood-made philosophy improves quality, delivery speed, attention to detail and cuts the carbon footprint of our products by as much as 60%!
We've successfully shipped over 12,000 pledge rewards to 82 countries from past 18 campaigns - welcome, world!
Risks and challenges
We have been working with our shops for several years now; we have a great relationships with them and they do quality work. Additionally, they have considerable capacity with multiple machines - always good to know in case this project requires larger than expected quantities! The biggest risk to beginning shipping on the stated delivery date, as always, is their production capacity or scheduling of other work at the time of our actual order.
For those of you who are new to our projects, we have a lot of product development & crowdfunding delivery experience. We love working with our crowdfunding community and communicate often!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
